3, record 1, French, - pens%C3%A9e%20automatique

The Indian-meal moth has a wing-spread of about 2 centimetres. The forewings are creamy white next to the body, and have a reddish-brown colour with a coppery lustre on the outer two-thirds. The female moth lays about 200 eggs, either singly or in groups, on food material. The larvae are dirty white in colour, often with a greenish or pinkish tint. The newly hatched larvae are almost never seen because of their small size and the fact that they burrow as far as two metres into the grain mass. They normally remain in the grain until they have completed their larval growth. When fully grown they are about 1. 2 centimetres long. In summer their life cycle is about six weeks. 1, record 3, English, - indian%2Dmeal%20moth

The Indian-meal moth is cosmopolitan in distribution, feeding on stored grain as well as nuts, dried fruits and packaged cereals. The principal damage caused to wheat is to the germ: a single larva may destroy the germ of approximately 50 kernels in completing its development.

2, record 3, French, - pyrale%20indienne%20de%20la%20farine

The insecticidal nature of [Bacillus thuringiensis] is attributed to crystal-like proteins that are produced by Bt cells during the spore-forming stage of its life cycle. The crystal protein in Bt kills insects by binding to and disrupting the midgut(stomach) membranes. Susceptible insects will stop feeding within hours of ingesting Bt and will generally die within 2-5 days. The specificity of Bt lies in the fact that particular stomach enzymes(present only in certain insects) must activate the crystal proteins before they are considered toxic. Under normal conditions the crystal protein is insoluble(not active) and is therefore safe to humans, mammals and the majority of insects. 3, record 5, English, - insecticidal%20crystal%20protein

Both evolutionists and economists argue that individuals do things for the larger group only if it is also for the good of the individual. Animals rarely do selfless things for their species. And people rarely do selfless things for the good of society. But even desiccated economists had noticed the "voter paradox. "People vote in elections despite the fact that no individual can expect to influence the outcome. People give to charity. Executives work long hours on behalf of their firms. Travellers tip waiters they will never see again. Soldiers willingly risk their lives for their country. Trust, cooperation and altruism are all part of human life. They are also part of animal life. The question is how do you reconcile altruism with the invisible hand and survival of the fittest? 1, record 6, English, - voter%20paradox

The Period of PURPLE Crying® is the phrase used to describe the point in a baby's life when they cry more than any other time. This period of increased crying is often described as colic, but there have been many misunderstandings about what “colic” really is. The Period of PURPLE Crying® is a new way to help parents understand this time in their baby's life, which is a normal part of every infant's development. It is confusing and concerning to be told your baby “has colic” because it sounds like it is an illness or a condition that is abnormal. When the baby is given colic medicine it reinforces the idea that there is something wrong with the baby when in fact the baby is going through a very normal developmental phase. That is why we prefer to refer to this time as the Period of PURPLE Crying®. No, it is not because the baby turns purple when he/she cries but provides a meaningful and memorable way to describe what parents and their babies are going through. The Period of PURPLE Crying® begins at about 2 weeks of age and continues until about 3-4 months. 2, record 11, English, - Period%20of%20PURPLE%20Crying%C2%AE

The Royal Victorian Chain is an award, instituted in 1902 by King Edward VII as a personal award of the Monarch(i. e. not an award by the British or any other Commonwealth Realm government). Although it is similar in appearance to the Royal Victorian Order, the two awards are unrelated. The Royal Victorian Chain does not confer upon its recipients any style or title-in fact, the Chain is not even given a precedence within any Commonwealth honours system-but it represents a personal token of high distinction and esteem from the Monarch. The Chain can be conferred upon men and women, both of the Realms and foreign. The chain is in gold, decorated with motifs of Tudor rose, Thistle, Shamrock and Lotus Flower(symbolizing England, Scotland, Ireland and India respectively), and a crowned, red enamelled cipher of King Edward VII "ERI"(Edwardus Rex Imperator), surrounded by a gold wreath for men, upon which the badge is suspended. The chain is worn around the collar by men, or with the four motifs and some chain links fixed to a riband in the form of bow(blue with red-white-red edges) on the left shoulder by women. However the Queen's sister Princess Margaret in later life wore her chain around the collar, as male recipients do. 1, record 18, English, - Royal%20Victorian%20Chain

1, record 23, Spanish, - cl%C3%A1usula%20de%20indisputabilidad

The name "deep-etch plate" is related to the fact that the printing image is recessed in the plate metal, though only very slightly. The non-printing areas of deep-etch plates are, consequently, on the surface of the plate and slightly above the printing areas. The differences in depth, or in elevation, between the printing and the non-printing areas of deep-etch plates are indeed very slight-on the average about two or three ten-thousandths of an inch. Deep-etch plates have considerably longer press life than do surface plates; they are more dependable, run cleaner, and can be made from positives which lend themselves better to dot-etching than do photographic negatives, the intermediate elements of surface plates. 2, record 24, English, - deep%2Detch%20plate

1, record 24, French, - plaque%20offset%20en%20creux

Scrap is a fact of life in plastics processing plants. Runners and sprues, reject molded parts, and trim from film extrusion and thermoforming operations, represent significant amounts of material that must be dealt with by the manufacturer. Whether the scrap is to be disposed or reused, it is usually put through a size reduction process for easier handling. In the case of thermoplastics, scrap is easily reused by reducing its size to the point where it can be fed into processing equipment in the same manner as virgin resin. 5, record 25, English, - waste
