Many of the results of our dependence on energy are obvious : air pollution, water pollution, thermal pollution, and noise pollution, to name a few.... All of these basic environmental problems can be grouped together logically under the heading of "environmental degradation, "since this title more clearly describes the situation. The fact that we dump polluting materials on the earth is not in itself dangerous; the earth has remarkable recuperative powers. What must concern us is how far the degradation of the earth's recuperative processes can be carried before those processes begin to fail. 5, record 1, English, - environmental%20change

Under the common law rule, a class gift had to be able to vest within the perpetuity period in its entirety. If the interests of some members might vest outside the period, even though the interests of other members would vest in time, the gift was wholly void. The statutes, however, provide that in such a situation the class may be split, by excluding those persons whose interests do not in fact vest in time. As at common law, the class closing rules are permitted to operate first and they may save the gift. Under the statutes one then uses the wait and see principle and the age reduction provision. After that class splitting is permitted.(Anger & Honsberger, 2nd ed., 1985, p. 536). 1, record 3, English, - class%20splitting

Decision taken for the purpose of defending a company from possible takeover attempts, normally resulting in amendments to company statutes that establish a reinforced majority vote in order to approve a takeover operation. Measures include contracts with competitors and the purchase of companies operating in the same sector as the company attempting to takeover, therefore resulting in a monopoly situation in the event of purchase. Other more specific measures include golden parachutes, poison pills and even scorched earth techniques. Even if all company directors agree to such measures, certain minority shareholders may object, due to the fact that by avoiding a takeover they also lose the chance to sell their shares at a higher price. 2, record 11, English, - shark%2Drepellant%20measure

1, record 11, Spanish, - medida%20anti%2Dtibur%C3%B3n

In a situation where a person having an account at one bank and an account at another bank, then draws a cheque on the first account and pays it into the second account, then on the day or day before the cheque is presented for payment, a cheque on the second account is drawn to meet the cheque on the first account, thereby a credit balance is shown on both accounts although there are in fact uncleared balances. A State is entitled to rely upon error as a ground of invalidity of a treaty if the error be one as to a fact or situation assumed by the State concerned to exist at the time when the treaty was concluded, and which formed an essential basis of its consent to the treaty. This ground is not open to the State if it contributed to the error by its own conduct, or the circumstances were such as to put it upon notice of a possible error, or the error related only to the wording of the text of the treaty. 3, record 16, English, - error

One price structure that is generally consistent with economic efficiency is referred to as the two or, more generally, the multi-block tariff. This approach is based on the fact that efficiency requires that price equal marginal cost only for the last unit purchased, so that the price of intramarginal units can be adjusted. For example, under a declining cost situation, with a two-part tariff structure there could be a lump sum or hookup charge and then all units sold would be priced at marginal cost. However, too high a lump sum charge may prevent some customers from purchasing service at all. To avoid this problem a multi-block declining tariff could be used. The last or "tailing" block rate would be set at marginal cost. 1, record 18, English, - multi%2Dblock%20declining%20tariff
