The exposure matrix was developed to account for job, plant, and era dependent differences in TCDD [2, 3, 7, 8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin] exposure. The TCDD exposure estimates are based on(1) the concentration of TCDD in micrograms per gram present in process materials;(2) the duration of exposure to TCDD contamination, expressed as a fraction of a work day; and(3) a qualitative contact factor(0. 05-1. 5) to account for the extent of worker contact with the TCDD contaminated material. These three factors are multiplied together to yield a daily TCDD exposure score. The sum of the daily exposure scores constituted an individual' s cumulative exposure score. Daily TCDD exposure scores range from 0. 001 to 1250. Cumulative TCDD exposure scores are distributed from 0. 002 to 1, 651, 611 exposure score days. The TCDD cumulative exposure score, which incorporates both duration and level of exposure, provides a means for ranking workers for evaluating the relationship between TCDD exposure and mortality in a retrospective cohort study analysis. 2, record 9, English, - exposure%20score

1, record 12, French, - quantification%20angulaire

The Kappa Factor is also known as the Active Chlorine Multiple(ACM). It is the sum of all chlorine compound additions to the first chlorination stage(converted to active chlorine equivalent, i. e. ClO2 wt% charge x 2. 63) divided by the Kappa number of the pump entering the first chlorination stage. The amount of AOX formation is directly related to the Kappa factor; for any given pulp the relationship is linear in a Cl2-free sequence. An important relationship exists between the Kappa factor(and ClO2 substitution) and the tendency to form 2, 3, 7, 8-TCDD. There is a need to operate in the vicinity of a Kappa factor of 0. 17, even at high ClO2 substitution, to ensure that polychlorinated dioxins and furans are not formed. 2, record 13, English, - kappa%20factor

1, record 13, French, - facteur%20Kappa

Because of the prominent noevascularization observed in the growth of brain tumors, we studies the occurrence of basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) a potent angiogenic factor in astrocytomas, the most aggressive of which often have marked vascular hyperplasia. Using immunohistochemical methods, we examined 21 examples of such tumors, 7 glioblastomas multiform, 7 anaplastic astrocytomas, and 7 low grade astrocytomas. Results suggest a possible role for bFGF in tumor growth and in angiogenesis in astrocytomes. 2, record 14, English, - angiogenic%20factor
