The noise N is essentially caused by the light scattered by the grating through the output slit and it diminishes when the focal length is increased. Another crucial quality factor of a monochromator is the ease to use it, i. e. its stability and reproducibility with regard to resolution and luminosity, and its tuning characteristics.

As a noun, a scalar is a single number or scale factor that all the matrix elements are multiplied by in scalar multiplication. This is used to scale down all the elements of a matrix in equal proportion. In graphics, this is used on row and column vectors that represent points in space. It moves a point radially toward or away from the origin(0, 0, 0). Installed power is expected to be 9. 3 MW, for a top speed of 135 km/h. The average speed will be about 100 km/h, which requires about 5 MW and an hourly fuel consumption of 1 tonne(specific fuel burn approx. 200 g/kWh).

The Kappa Factor is also known as the Active Chlorine Multiple(ACM). It is the sum of all chlorine compound additions to the first chlorination stage(converted to active chlorine equivalent, i. e. ClO2 wt% charge x 2. 63) divided by the Kappa number of the pump entering the first chlorination stage. The amount of AOX formation is directly related to the Kappa factor; for any given pulp the relationship is linear in a Cl2-free sequence. An important relationship exists between the Kappa factor(and ClO2 substitution) and the tendency to form 2, 3, 7, 8-TCDD. There is a need to operate in the vicinity of a Kappa factor of 0. 17, even at high ClO2 substitution, to ensure that polychlorinated dioxins and furans are not formed.

It is not necessary for the plan to reduce the pension on the full actuarial basis. Frequently the early retirement discount factors are not actuarial but arbitrary, such as a reduction of 3 or 6 per cent for each year of early retirement. In the example quoted above, with 3 percent reductions a pension of $1, 020(85% X $1, 200) per month would be paid, beginning at age 60. The idea is that the full actuarial discount is simply too severe a reduction for someone who is retiring early and that the cost of lowering the discount factor is a proper and necessary cost of the plan.

Bien souvent, les facteurs de réduction de la rente anticipée ne sont pas actuariels mais arbitraires, par exemple, une réduction de 3 ou 6 pour cent par année d'anticipation. Dans l'exemple ci-dessus, la rente servie à compter de l'âge de 60 ans serait de 1 200 $ par mois (85 pour cent par 1 200 $) si l'on tenait compte d'une réduction de 3 pour cent. La réduction actuarielle intégrale est tout simplement trop pénalisante pour celui qui prend une retraite anticipée et le coût de l'abaissement du facteur de réduction est un coût convenable et nécessaire du régime.
