... feed efficiency has been considered as one of the important parameters in assessing the potential of bird strain or feeding program, etc. In [North] America the value is calculated by dividing feed intake by weight gain, and so values of around 1. 9 are common for 42 [day] old birds. In some European countries, the efficiency is calculated as weight gain divided by feed intake, and a corresponding value would be 0. 53. Whatever system is used, measures of feed efficiency are useful in describing feed intake in relation to growth rate. Feed efficiency is, therefore, a useful measure of performance as long as all other factors affecting both growth and feed intake are either minor or do not vary from flock to flock. 2, record 6, English, - feed%20efficiency

1, record 6, French, - indice%20de%20consommation

Whenever a request is made to the server from a given IP address(site), the amount of time since a previous request by the same address is calculated(if any). If the time difference is greater than a preconfigured visit timeout value(or has never made a request before), it is considered a new visit, and this total is incremented(both for the site, and the IP address). The timeout value is set to 30 minutes, so if a user visits your site at 1 : 00 pm in the afternoon, and then returns at 3 : 00 pm, two visits would be registered. Technically due to the limitation of the HTTP protocol, log rotations and other factors, this number should not be taken as absolutely accurate, rather, it should be considered a pretty close "guess. Information on changes of enzymatic properties caused by the immobilization of enzymes and microbial cells is useful not only for the application of immobilized systems but also for the elucidation of structure-function relationships and mechanisms of enzyme reaction. The changes of enzymatic properties are considered to be caused by the following two factors. One is changes of the enzyme itself, and the other is physical and chemical properties of the carriers used for immobilization. The former involves modification of amino acid residues in the active center of the enzyme, conformational changes of the enzyme protein, and changes in the charge on the enzyme, while the latter involves the formation of diffusion layers around immobilized enzymes, steric hindrance effects, and electrostatic interactions between carrier and substrate. 3, record 27, English, - electrostatic%20interaction

Most factors considered in grading must be determined by visual examination. For the sake of comparison to assist in grading, or to set grading levels, standard samples are prepared annually for all grain grades defined in Schedule 1 of the act and for any other special grades established by the Commission. All standard samples are prepared by the Commission's Inspection Division. They are submitted for review to the Grain Standards Committees, which recommend to the Commission that standard samples for different grades be approved. Growing Degree Days. The underlying idea is that development does not occur unless the temperature exceeds a certain minimum threshold value or base temperature. The base temperatures are determined through research and experimentation and are different for different organisms. It has been found that there are many other factors, which may influence the actual temperature the organism is experiencing or that may influence their growth and development. For instance it is possible that the organism may be experiencing a temperature a few degrees more or lesser than that recorded depending on weather it spends most of its time in the shade or under direct sunlight. Precipitation and the presence of weeds may also indirectly influence the growth and development of insects and plants. The fertility and nutrient content of the soil is directly related to the growth rate of insects and plants. In light of these many factors and some other scientific considerations a base temperature of 50 degrees Fahrenheit is considered acceptable for all plants and insects. 2, record 29, English, - growing%20degree%2Dday

If the fundamental principle guiding management is only permanent disposal, then options for waste management will be very limited since all management solutions must meet the safety and environmental standards set out by regulatory authorities. For example, considerations of such factors as volume, the disruption which removal might cause, costs and local preferences may make long-term management in situ a practical option for some of the existing wastes. The Task Force feels the uranium mine and mill tailings and the phosphogypsum wastes are best dealt with in this manner and that in situ management should at least be considered for several other waste deposits... 2, record 39, English, - in%20situ%20management

While sucrose was, for many years, the main form of sweetener corn starch hydrolysis products-corn syrups containing varying amounts of dextrose(glucose) are being used by bakers in increasing amounts. In adding sweeteners to bread, a number of factors must be taken into account. Sugars vary in sweetness and in rates of fermentation. Both factors must be considered in arriving at a desired formulation. Levulose(fructose), sweetest of the common sugars, is about one and one-half times as sweet as sucrose which, in turn, is about 25% sweeter than glucose, three times as sweet as maltose, and six times as sweet as lactose. 1, record 40, English, - corn%20starch%20hydrolysis%20product

1, record 40, French, - produit%20d%27hydrolyse%20de%20l%27amidon%20de%20ma%C3%AFs

The primary function of a port grain terminal is either to load or unload ships, depending on whether it is an export or an import facility. In transshipment facilities, both functions are involved. Regardless of the type of terminal, however, the emphasis is on throughput. Storage capacity is incidental and can normally be limited to the minimum required to eliminate interruptions in the transshipment function. Other factors of course can have a bearing on storage capacity, such as the existence of local onshore markets or anticipated lengthy delays in ship movement. The geographical location of the terminal will determine which of these or other factors must be considered. 1, record 41, English, - port%20grain%20terminal

1, record 41, French, - silo%20portuaire

It should be emphasized that the integration of herbicides into the crop protection program or system needs careful consideration. Main factors to be considered are the rotation sequence, the most common weed or complexes of weeds in the field, and their density and duration. Effort should be made in choosing and matching the particular herbicide(s) with the specific weed species or complexes of weeds present, the geographic location, and edaphic and environmental conditions. Many combinations of herbicides result in either additive or synergistic effects on weeds. The activity of soil-acting herbicides depends on such factors as persistence, absorption properties of the soil, soil organic matter, soil types, soil moisture, and cultivation. Herbicide rates may need to be adjusted on the basis of soil texture and type. As well as effects of soil on the performance of herbicides, there are converse effects of the herbicides on soil properties.... 2, record 50, English, - integrated%20weed%20management

For instance, a psychologist, who is a friend of the patient, cannot effectively maintain a dual relationship with his patient a) as a clinician and b) as caring person or a friend with emotions - at the same time. Inversely, the patient who is a friend of the clinician will likely make undue demands on his friend, e.g. asking for non-essential medication, but at the same time expecting the clinician to provide the best psychiatric care. 2, record 51, English, - dual%20relationship

This method uses Clerical Bench Mark Tables and the comparison concept. Reliable standards are set based on a range of time in which a given job will probably be done by a qualified person. In effect, a given job is compared with other similar jobs on the Bench Mark Tables. Time alone is not compared. The work content of the job must also be considered on an overall basis. It is these two factors that are considered when the comparison is made. For example, a job may be classified as a "C" job, not necessarily because of any specific bench mark in Standard Work Group "C", but because of the work content of the bench marks in group "C", plus the work content of the bench marks in the two adjoining work groups, namely "B" and "D". In effect, the job is slotted "C" because of the work content of the bench mark jobs in groups "B", "C" and "D". 1, record 55, English, - slotting
