... it is important to note that establishing a simple association between family violence and CPV [child to parent violence] would not be appropriate. Not all the children who experience some type of violence in the family context will inevitably become potential abusers in the future. During the voir dire, Dr. Marshall discussed delayed disclosure of child sexual abuse, based on his knowledge of the scientific literature in the area. He testified that there are many factors which can affect the timing of a complaint, including the relationship between the child and the abuser and the nature of the abuse. Some factors might discourage children from reporting abuse, such as embarrassment; fear of getting themselves or others into trouble; bribery or threats by the perpetrator; fear of being punished or sent away; disruption of the family; or fear that they would not be believed. Young children might also not fully comprehend what happened or not see anything wrong with the abuse.

Points made with regard to counselling and support include these : there is a need for increased counselling for teenagers; counselling for children should be mandatory, since professionals who may come into contact with children(for example, doctors or teachers) have insufficient knowledge of how family violence affects children; programs for abusive persons should be made widely available and should be ongoing; there should be support and services for abused fathers, since this support is currently lacking; and First Nations families must be encouraged to participate in victims’ rights and support programs.

Economic family refers to a group of two or more persons who live in the same dwelling and are related to each other by blood, marriage, common-law or adoption. A couple may be of opposite or same sex. Foster children are included.

OBS

By definition, all persons who are members of a census family are also members of an economic family. Examples of the broader concept of economic family include the following: two co-resident census families who are related to one another are considered one economic family; co-resident siblings who are not members of a census family are considered as one economic family; and, nieces or nephews living with aunts or uncles are considered one economic family.

Nanny shares, a variation on the typical nanny care arrangement, first became popular when more families became dependent on the incomes of two working parents. With fewer stay-at-home parents, demand for childcare outpaced the supply, so parents began to think of new childcare options. Typically a live-out, or live-in nanny travels each day to one household or alternates if the families take turns hosting the children. Sometimes a nanny lives with one family and cares for the children of two or more families in that home.

In establishing Tikinagan as a Native child welfare agency, the chiefs were committed to providing services to children and families in whatever manner necessary to prevent them from becoming at risk. Grooming is a word used to describe how people who want to sexually harm children and young people get close to them, and often their families, and gain their trust. Grooming in the real world can take place in all kinds of places – in the home or local neighbourhood, the child's school, youth and sports clubs or the church. Online grooming may occur by people forming relationships with children and pretending to be their friend. They do this by finding out information about their potential victim and trying to establish the likelihood of the child telling. They try to find out as much as they can about the child's family and social networks and, if they think it is "safe enough", will then try to isolate their victim and may use flattery and promises of gifts, or threats and intimidation in order to achieve some control.

Halloween is celebrated on October 31st in Canada. Halloween is a favorite family celebration-a time for traditions such as dressing in costumes, trick-or-treating around the neighbourhood, and carving pumpkins. Children dress up in funny or scary costumes and go "trick or treating, "and neighbours are expected to respond by giving them small treats. Adults may also dress in costume for Halloween parties. Halloween(the evening before All Saints or All Hallows Day) is a secular celebration based on ancient Druid customs dating back to 700 B. C. The Druids, a Celtic religious order in ancient Britain, Ireland and France, believed that the souls of the dead returned to mingle with the living on "hallowed eve, "October 31. Each year on that night, the Druids would make bonfires and offer sacrifices of crops and animals, and individuals would dress in costumes to disguise themselves from these spirits.

Societal reproduction is a combination of the organization of production, the organization of social reproduction, the perpetuation of gender, and the continuation of class relations. Social reproduction includes the care and socialization of children and care of the elderly or infirm. Social reproduction includes the organization of sexuality, biological reproduction, and how food, clothing, and shelter are made available. Most social reproduction occurs within the family unit. It is pointed out that variations in the distribution of the work of social reproduction are affected by the family, market, community, and state.

French

CONT
