FERTILIZER ACID [5 records]

Record 1 2017-12-14

English

Subject field(s)
  • Chemical Elements and Compounds
DEF

A salt of ammonia and phosphoric acid that forms white monoclinic crystals, which are soluble in water; used as a fertilizer and fire retardant.

CONT

The highest nutrient concentration yet attained is in ammonium phosphates, fertilizers made by neutralizing phosphoric acid with ammonia, agglomerating the resulting slurry, and drying the granules.

OBS

Examples of ammonium phosphates are: a) the white crystalline primary phosphate, called monobasic ammonium phosphate, and b) the white crystalline secondary phosphate, called dibasic ammonium phosphate. (Information taken from the Webster’s).

French

Domaine(s)

CONT

Phosphate d'ammonium. [...] Utilisé comme engrais, ignifugeant, thérapeutique, œnologie.

CONT

OBS

mono : NH4H2PO4 [...]. di : (NH4)2HPO4 [...]. tri : (NH4)3PO4 [...]

DEF

A heavy corrosive high-boiling oily liquid dibasic acid which is colorless to dark brown depending on purity, is made commercially from sulfur dioxide by oxidation, constitutes by far the most widely used industrial chemical, and is used as an alkylation catalyst, a laboratory reagent, in dyes and pigments, electroplating baths, etching, explosives, fertilizers, iron and steel, non ferrous metallurgy and in rayon and film.

CONT

Subject field(s)
  • Plant Diseases
CONT

Whenever the celery crop has been weakened in any manner, such as by the lack of magnesium, boron or other minor element; too much soluble salt; excessively wet soil; not enough fertilizer; too acid soil; and other influences, this weak pathogen causes spotting on celery stems. The brown or tan spot is irregular in shape, shallow in depth, and is present either on the outside or inside of the stem, on the petioles, and slightly on the leaflets.... When the spots enlarge until they unite, the combined lesion may extend almost the entire length of the stalk.(Charles Chupp, Vegetable Diseases and Their Control, 1960, p. 212).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Maladies des plantes
CONT
