FLOOD BRIDGE [4 records]

Record 1 2024-09-04

English

Subject field(s)
  • Foundation Engineering
  • Erosion and Weathering (Geol.)
CONT

... scour monitoring at... offshore structures can identify and prevent disasters before they strike. While scour can occur slowly over time, flood events can cause rapid scouring, to the point of structure failure. As scour alters the elevation of the riverbed at a pier, a monitoring system can indicate when a bridge becomes structurally deficient and dangerous due to sediment erosion. While monitoring does not make a structure less susceptible to scour, a real-time alert can be sent out if a bridge becomes scour critical and must be closed.

CONT

Record 2 2003-09-10

English

Subject field(s)
  • Civil Engineering
  • Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics (Physics)
CONT

There are very few companies that can combine both mechanical and hydraulic design.

CONT

Eco-hydraulics and aquatic habitat restoration. Habitat hydraulics, physical-biological coupling in aquatic environments, eco-hydraulic design and restoration.

CONT

Hydraulic design factors can significantly influence the corridor, horizontal alignment, grade, location of interchanges, and the necessary appurtenances required to convey water across, along, away from, or to a highway or highway facility. An effective hydraulic design conveys water in the most economical, efficient, and practical manner to ensure the public safety without incurring excessive maintenance costs or appreciably damaging the highway or highway facility, adjacent property, or the total environment.

CONT

Hydraulic Design of an Axisymmetric Diffuser for a Lake Aeration System.

PHR

Hydraulic design condition, criteria, factor, model, package, parameter, professional, software, study, system.

PHR

Hydraulic design of barrages, of bridge structures, of channels, of culverts, of flood control channels, of flowthrough rockfill embankments, of instream structures, of pipes, of spillways, of stepped cascades, of stilling basins, of water treatment works.

PHR

Eco-hydraulic design.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Scientific Measurements and Analyses
  • Hydrology and Hydrography
DEF

A determination(by indirect measurement) of peak discharge following a flood by field survey of highwater marks and channel and bridge geometry at a bridge constriction. Discharge is computed on the basis, of an evaluation of energy changes between the approach section and the downstream side of the constriction.
