In a low-yield(i. e., bleachable grade) chemical pulping operation, knots are generally defined as the fraction of pulp that is retained on a 3/8" perforated plate... Two types of knotters are in use. The older, vibrating screen knotters do an efficient job of knot separation, but the open-type design generates foam and liquor spatter, and needs operator attention. Foam in the stock impairs the efficiency of the subsequent washing operation and can cause other problems. The vibratory knotter is rapidly being superseded by the totally enclosed pressure screen knotter. 1, record 1, English, - vibrating%20screen%20knotter

1, record 1, French, - classeur%20vibrant

There are several types of electrophoresis, zone electrophoresis being one of the most common. In zone electrophoresis, proteins are supported on a solid so that, in addition to the electric migration forces, conventional chromatographic forces may enter into the separation efficiency. There are several types of zone electrophoresis according to the different supports. The common supports include starch gels, polyacrylamide gels, polyurethane foam, and paper. 3, record 3, English, - zone%20electrophoresis

Tertiary treatment is... primarily intended to further clean, or polish, secondary treatment plant effluents by removing additional suspended material and lowering the BOD, generally by filtration. This polishing, however, has little impact on the dissolved solids, including the nutrients, synthetic organic chemicals, and heavy metals. To eliminate these constituents of wastewater, other methods of treatment have been devised. These processes include coagulation and sedimentation, precipitation, adsorption on activated carbon or other adsorbents, foam separation, electrodialysis, reverse osmosis, ion exchange, and distillation. 3, record 5, English, - distillation
