A particular advantage of SERN [Socio-economic Research Network of the CFS(Canadian Forest Service) ] is its strength in emerging issues and methodologies. The CFS has the only forest sociologist in the federal civil service and has expertise in the areas of nonmarket valuation and public participation issues. These are crucial links to the policy initiatives of sustaining Canada's forests and environmental stewardship.
