Jus in bello, also referred to as international humanitarian law (IHL), applies to all warring parties irrespective of the reasons for the conflict. It does not speak to whether or not the cause of war is just. Instead, this body of law seeks to protect war victims and their fundamental rights, no matter to which party they belong. 4, record 1, English, - international%20humanitarian%20law

Necessity and proportionality have always been core principles of both branches of the jus belli principles that apply to both the authority to employ military force and the regulation of actual employment. However, in the jus ad bellum context, they have never before been viewed as principles to regulate operational and tactical execution. Instead, in that context they frame the legality of national or multinational resort to military force in self-defense. Once the decision is made to employ force pursuant to this authority, the jus in bello variant of these principles(necessity of the mission and proportionality of collateral damage) operate to regulate the application of combat power during mission execution(in other words, they provide the foundation for the regulation of the application of combat power in the context of the self-defense-justified mission). 5, record 1, English, - international%20humanitarian%20law

Nearly all industrial welding involves fusion. The edges or surfaces to be welded are brought to the molten state. The liquid metal bridges the gap between the parts. After the source of welding heat has been removed, the liquid solidifies, thus joining or welding the parts together. Unique to the BWR is the application of jet pumps inside the reactor vessel. The jet pumps deliver their driving force from the external recirculation pumps and generate about two-thirds of the recirculation flow within the reactor vessel. The jet pumps also contribute to the inherent safety of the BWR design under loss-of-coolant emergency conditions because they continue to provide internal circulation with one or both external recirculation loops out of service. 3, record 15, English, - jet%20pump

Gyroscopic precession... When force is applied to a gyro, the device reacts as if the force had been applied at a point 90 degrees from the point of actual application, in the direction of rotation. Precession affects propellers, which act like gyros, and gyro instruments. Its principle effect is on the heading indicator, which tends to drift over time. 8, record 27, English, - precessional%20motion
Record number: 27, Textual support number: 2 CONT
A gyroscope will not only resist being moved out of its vertical position, it will also generate force as it attempts to travel in large, circular patterns. These patterns are most easily seen with a spinning top. As the top begins losing its energy, it never simply spirals straight down in the same direction that it was originally spinning. As it destabilizes, it will always begin slowly rotating or precessing in a slow, even circle that is in the opposite direction to its normal spinning motion. These circular patterns are known as "precessional" motions, and they are another aspect of a gyroscope’s movement that will occur either in air or in a vacuum and can be used to overcome gravity. 9, record 27, English, - precessional%20motion

If an airplane changes suddenly from a nose up to a nose down position, as is the case during the take-off roll in a tail wheel airplane, the airplane will yaw sharply to the left as the pilot shoves the wheel forward to raise the tail. The application of right rudder compensates for the precession tendency. 7, record 27, English, - precessional%20motion

The tipsails are an extension of NASA [National Aeronautics and Space Administration] technology which led to the application of small winglets on many airplanes... Tipsails operate in the rotational flow field of the wing tip vortex, giving an effect similar to the sail of a boat as it moves into the wind. The force vector produced by the pressure differential between the two surfaces is directed forward, which results in a cruise drag reduction. Rudders, located at the trailing edge of the tipsails, provide directional control without requiring a special surface dedicated solely to that purpose. 4, record 31, English, - winglet

4, record 39, French, - poussi%C3%A8re

The application of robotics in space poses difficult control problems. One of these is the precise control of the forces exerted by the robot during contact tasks such as inserting brittle samples into ports with small clearances, or opening doors or drawers without overstepping microgravity disturbance limits or actuating a mechanism with a specified force level. The cost of developing, from the beginning, a mature and robust space robot controller with these capabilities is prohibitive in terms of the resources available for space robotics research in Europe : a mature industrial robot controller-with less advanced capabilities-already represents several tens of man-years of development, and has proved its reliability in thousands of demanding round-the-clock manufacturing installations. 2, record 63, English, - robot%20controller

2, record 67, French, - correction%20de%20l%27erreur%20de%20pr%C3%A9cession
