Begun in 1995 by the National Capital Commission(NCC) under the general name of the Family Exchange Program, the objectives of the Celebrate Canada in the Capitals program are to foster a feeling of pride in Canada and to encourage Canadians to explore the rich culture and heritage of their country. In the beginning, the program enabled one randomly chosen family from each province and territory to visit Canada's Capital Region for five days during Winterlude, and twelve other families to travel to the Capital for Canada Day. During their stay, the winners were billeted with host families in the region, which added a friendly dimension to the program while giving participants a more connected exchange experience. 1, record 18, English, - Celebrate%20Canada%20in%20the%20Capitals

1, record 18, French, - F%C3%AAtons%20le%20Canada%20dans%20les%20capitales

They now try holding troubled families together instead of pulling them apart. In Michigan, a new family-preservation effort called Families First relies on intensive intervention by case managers.... Over 80% of the 2, 400 families who have participated in Families First are still together. In the 18 Michigan counties that have the program, new foster care placements have fallen 10%, compared with a 28% increase in those where the approach has yet to be tried. 3, record 32, English, - foster%20care%20placement
