Cold brachythecium moss(Brachythecium frigidum)... is a shiny moss that can be green, brownish, rich golden or golden brown in colour, that exists in moderately dense mats. This species is very common in western North America and can be confused with other species despite having distinctive characters. The leaves have a somewhat auriculate base formed by the convex group of enlarged pellucid alar cells, a conspicuous row of large cells across the insertion, strong plication and evenly serrulate to serrate margins. Cold brachythecium moss can be found in soil in wet places, moderate shade to open sun, on rock and fallen trunks. In order to concentrate resources on those areas that are most vulnerable, conservationists have identified certain areas as biodiversity hotspots. The term, first used by British ecologist Norman Myers in 1988, designated areas losing habitat at a high rate in which there is a disproportionate number of species found nowhere else.... Hotspots are often defined according to their plant vegetation. To Myers, a hotspot has to contain at least 0. 5 percent of the world's 300, 000 plant species as endemics. 1, record 73, English, - biodiversity%20hotspot

1, record 73, Spanish, - punto%20caliente%20de%20biodiversidad

Although both of these classes of optical nanosensors are capable of obtaining quantitative measurements in many different microscopic environments, they have found an ideal application in the analysis of chemical and biochemical species present within living cells. Pronounced variation in the number and location of edited sites was found among species. Most species had a relatively large number of edited sites(from 25 to 34). However, no RNA editing of the coxI sequence was found in Gingko biloba or Larix sibirica. The sequence composition of the investigated coxI fragment suggests that the coxI gene in G. biloba and L. sibirica originated from edited mitochondrial coxI transcripts by reverse transcription followed by insertion into the nuclear genome or back into the mitochondrial genome. Our results also demonstrate that where there a large number of edited sites, RNA editing can accelerate the divergence of sequences among species. 2, record 80, English, - RNA%20editing

Though relatively small in land area, the ecozone is very important agriculturally. The fertile soils, warm growing season, abundant rainfall and gentle topography of rolling hills and level plains result in a very productive and varied agriculture. 2, record 82, French, - %C3%A9cozone%20des%20plaines%20%C3%A0%20for%C3%AAts%20mixtes

Fur seals are any of nine species of pinnipeds in the Otariidae family. One species, the northern fur seal(Callorhinus ursinus) inhabits the North Pacific, while seven species in the Arctocephalus genus are found primarily in the Southern hemisphere. They are much more closely related to sea lions than true seals, and share with them external ears(pinnae), relatively long and muscular foreflippers, and the ability to walk on all fours. They are marked by their dense underfur, which made them a long-time object of commercial hunting. 3, record 84, English, - fur%20seal

We have examined phylogenetic and geographic patterns of variation in the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene of Southern Hemisphere fur seals(Arctocephalus spp.). Our survey of 106 individuals from four putative species reveals three distinct patterns of variation reflecting ancient, recent historic, and contemporary gene flow. For the combined samples of Subantarctic(Arctocephalus tropicalis) and Antarctic(Arctocephalus gazella) fur seals, we find low levels of sequence diversity and reciprocal paraphyly of hapiotypes(where representative haplotypes of a species are found to occur infrequently in another species and vice versa). 4, record 84, English, - fur%20seal

4, record 84, French, - otarie%20%C3%A0%20fourrure

Fumonisins are environmental toxins produced by the molds Fusarium moniliforme(F. verticillioides), F. proliferatum, and other Fusarium species that grow on agricultural commodities in the field or during storage. These mycotoxins have been found as contaminants worldwide, mainly in corn. More than ten types of fumonisins have been isolated and characterized. Of these, fumonisin B1(FB1), fumonisin B2(FB2), and fumonisin B3(FB3) are the major fumonisins produced in nature. The most prevalent of these mycotoxins in contaminated corn is FB1, which is believed to be the most toxic... 2, record 96, English, - fuminosin
