Optical see-through head-mounted displays (OST-HMD) find myriads of applications from scientific visualization to defense applications, from medical visualization to engineering processes, and from training to entertainment. In mixed or augmented reality systems, OST-HMDs have been one of the basic vehicles for combining computer-generated virtual scene with the views of a real-world scene. Typically through an optical combiner, an OST-HMD maintains a direct view of the physical world and optically superimposes computer-generated images onto the real scene. Compared with a video see-through approach where the real-world views are captured through cameras, it has the advantage of introducing minimal degradation to the real world scene. Therefore an OST-HMD is preferred for applications where a non-blocked real-world view is critical. 1, record 1, English, - optical%20see%2Dthrough%20head%20mounted%20display

An augmented reality system comprises a real reference generator for displaying a real reference on a calibration screen, an optical see-through display having a fixed position with respect to the real reference generator and a virtual reference generator for displaying a virtual reference on the optical see-through display. The augmented reality system further comprises an input device for aligning a view of the virtual reference with a view of the real reference through the optical see-through display, wherein the virtual reference is moved on the optical see-through display, and a processor for determining one or more parameters for rendering a virtual object as part of a real scene seen through the optical see-through display. 4, record 1, English, - optical%20see%2Dthrough%20head%20mounted%20display

Private health insurance is often defined as insurance that is taken up voluntarily and paid for privately, either by individuals or by employers on behalf of employees... This definition recognizes that private health insurance may be sold by a wide range of entities, both public and private in nature.... The reference to private payment signals a further defining characteristic : private health insurance premiums are typically linked to a person's risk of ill health or set as a flat rate, whereas pre-payment for publicly financed coverage is almost always linked to income. 1, record 2, English, - private%20health%20insurance

Mentalism is for metaphysics what empiricism is for epistemology. We cannot know that our sense impressions actually correspond to anything outside of us. Mentalism goes a step further by claiming that our senses impressions do not correspond to anything outside of us. It claims that they are simply ideas in our mind without any external reference. For Mentalism, nothing exists unless it exists in a mind. It denies that anything is physical, for it holds that everything we sense is what it is only because some mind believes it to be what it is. 1, record 17, English, - mentalism

These measures will result in an absolute reduction in defence program spending of about 5 per cent in 1994-95 over the planned reference level for 1993-94. For planning purposes, Defence needs to project its spending over a longer timeframe than specified in the budget. Accordingly, Defence program spending is being set to undergo further 1 per cent reductions in each of the next four years, resulting in total savings of $7 billion over five years, relative to the funding provided in the April 1993 budget. 1, record 19, English, - defence%20program%20spending
