6, record 1, French, - couple%20principal

A former is a structural member of an aircraft fuselage, of which a typical fuselage has a series from the nose to the empennage, typically perpendicular to the roll axis of the aircraft. The formers establish the shape of the fuselage. Formers are typically attached to longerons which support the skin of the aircraft. 5, record 2, English, - former
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The vertical members of the fuselage frame are called frames, or bulkheads. Between the principal vertical members are lighter former, or rings, to maintain the uniform shape of the structure. 3, record 2, English, - former

3, record 3, French, - couple%20de%20fuselage

Record number: 4, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The true monocoque construction uses formers, frame assemblies, and bulkheads to give shape to the fuselage, but the skin carries the primary stresses. Since no bracing members are present, the skin must be strong enough to keep the fuselage rigid. Thus, the biggest problem involved in monocoque construction is maintaining enough strength while keeping the weight within allowable limits. 2, record 4, English, - monocoque%20construction

2, record 4, French, - construction%20monocoque
