GAMMA CONTROL [6 records]

Record 1 2017-02-03

English

Subject field(s)
  • Nuclear Science and Technology
  • Medical and Surgical Equipment
  • Food Preservation and Canning
CONT

Gamma processing has now obtained its well-deserved recognition as an industrial process, especially through the sterilization of disposable medical supplies.

CONT

Are you aware that gamma processing is a viable process which can control or eliminate pests, which cause post-harvest losses?

Record 2 2011-07-21

English

Subject field(s)
  • Nuclear Fission Reactors
  • Nuclear Power Stations
DEF

A structure in which a fission chain reaction can be maintained and controlled. It usually contains a fuel, coolant, moderator, and control absorbers and is most often surrounded by a concrete biological shield to absorb neutron and gamma ray emission.

CONT

The nuclear fission reactor is possible because more neutrons are produced in fission than are needed to initiate it.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Réacteurs nucléaires de fission
  • Centrales nucléaires
DEF

Record 3 2011-02-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Flight Instruments and Equipment (Aeroindustry)
CONT

Radioactivity mapping system... airborne system for mapping radioactivity levels on the ground and which can be used for locating point sources of radioactivity or contamination over wide areas.... The system includes a large sodium iodide gamma ray detector and associated electronics, radiolocation system, radar altimeter and recorder, all under computer control. Using spectrographic analysis, it is possible to determine the radioactive elements in contaminated areas. An image-processing system produces colour-coded maps showing radioactivity levels in the area under survey.

Record 4 - external organization data 2006-01-24

English

Subject field(s)
  • Electromagnetic Radiation
  • Atomic Physics
  • Mining Wastes
  • Compartment - Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission
CONT

Radon is regarded as the controlling contaminant for airborne releases. This means that, if radon control levels are met, dust emissions and gamma fields will be within acceptable levels automatically.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Rayonnements électromagnétiques
  • Physique atomique
  • Déchets miniers
  • Tiroir - Commission canadienne de sûreté nucléaire
CONT
