An instrument for determining the energy distribution of gamma rays. 5, record 1, English, - gamma%2Dray%20spectrometer
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Gamma rays are electromagnetic radiation at the short-wavelength, or high-frequency, end of the electromagnetic(EM) spectrum, which ranges from gamma rays(short) to radio(long). The study and analysis of gamma-ray spectra for scientific and technical use is called gamma spectroscopy, and gamma-ray spectrometers are the instruments which observe and collect such data. Because the energy of each photon of EM radiation is proportional to its frequency, gamma rays have sufficient energy that they are typically observed by counting individual photons. 2, record 1, English, - gamma%2Dray%20spectrometer

Record number: 4, Textual support number: 1 CONT
We report the detection of an unusual high-energy transient by the gamma-ray burst detector onboard the satellite Ginga. The spectral properties of this event, which we refer to as a Medium Energy Burst(MEB900129), place it between those of Type IX-ray bursts and classical gamma-ray bursts. The event was much softer than classical gamma-ray bursts, with a spectrum that peaks between 16-18 keV, and decreases both above and below the peak. 3, record 4, English, - high%2Denergy%20transient
