"Dykes"(1839) 4 M. & W. 567, it was said that a messuage and a dwelling-house are substantially the same thing, and therefore if rooms are so occupied as to be in fact a dwelling-house, they may be described as a messuage. Les bordures servent à séparer des espaces ayant des fonctions différentes (un stationnement d'un sentier pédestre) ou à limiter des matériaux, des textures, définir des transitions, les lignes particulières d'un design ou encore diriger les eaux de drainage. Elles minimisent [sic : réduisent] aussi l'entretien en empêchant les matériaux granulaires de déborder sur les pelouses. Mais les bordures sont surtout utiles et nécessaires au maintien et à la stabilité de certains pavages tels que l'asphalte et les dallages non cimentés.

Reel mowers stir up dust and debris the least, so they’re best for allergy sufferers .... They work fine for flat edging, but if your lawn edging is raised, you’ll end up with a lot of trimming since reel mowers can’t cut very close to walls.

A kakemono... is a Japanese scroll painting, an ink-and-brush painting that hangs in a recess in a traditional Japanese house. In a teahouse, or the room called a chashitsu, which is located in a secluded garden setting away from the main dwelling, the choice of the kakemono and its complementary flower arrangement help set the spiritual mood of the ceremony itself, in perfect harmony with the time of year.

In contrast to the Kakemono, a Makimono is a hand scroll, a painting or calligraphy which is supposed to be held in the hand.

The modern garden prototype emerged out of a changed conception of what a garden should be.... It is typically small and enclosed by fences or walls, frequently confined to the back of the lot, the front being occupied with garage, guest parking and entry. The entire garden space is divided according to uses and the outdoor areas are connected by doors to the rooms of the house, e. g., kitchen to herbs, vegetables, garbage, and storage, living room to terrace and barbecue. It is used intensively for outdoor recreation, games, sunbathing, swimming, eating and drinking. Privacy is desirable. This garden type seems to represent the ideal for people of all income groups in many parts of the world today.
