The increasing concentration of 1,2-DCP detected in Village production wells concerned SWDO’s Division of Drinking and Ground Water (DDAGW). In the summer of 1997, DDAGW requested that Ripley take action to reduce the concentration of 1,2-DCP to below 5.0 µg/l. Failure to do so would lead to requirements for costly treatment. The most viable option for the village was determined to be the installation of a interception well as a temporary method to capture the 1,2-DCP plume before it reaches the well field.

Last month, the federal Environmental Protection Agency directed Union Carbide to install an "interceptor well, "in the well field, which is located off Dugan Lane near the Garden State Parkway. A plume of ground water contamination from the nearby Reich Farm Superfund site has seeped into the well field. Craig A. Wilger, Carbide's project manager for the Reich Farm site, said Carbide consultant Jon Sykes is trying to determine the best placement for an interceptor well by using a computer model of ground water in the area.

The project at Vreewijk... was always intended as the urban expression of Ebenezer Howard's essentially anti-urban ideology of the garden city and was intended from the first to be an extension of Rotterdam. In the first phase, based on the street plan(1913) by H. P. Berlage, Granpré Molière developed a housing typology based on the relationship between urbanism, architecture and planning. This resulted in the second phase of Vreewijk, the extension plan(1920) by Granpré Molière, Verhagen & Kok commissioned by the Eerste Rotterdamsche Tuindorp NV. A private initiative, it was nevertheless based on the belief that urbanism has not only to do with planning but also with expressing contemporary cultural and artistic ambitions, and that therefore it cannot be the result of a single person's intentions nor those of isolated parts of society, be they the state or private initiatives.

À partir de 1918 la municipalité lance un plan d'aménagement et d'embellissement de Nantes. Il est nécessaire de construire des logements qui font de plus en plus défaut mais il faut faire de Nantes une ville agréable avec des avenues larges, propres, coquettes et animées. Ainsi de nouveaux quartiers vont surgir qui contrasteront avec les anciens. De plan d'embellissement on passe au plan d'extension qui concerne un espace de 9240 hectares alors que la zone urbaine en 1920 n'est que de 2800 hectares. Un programme de grands travaux démarre jusqu'en 1941.

A pond is not an essential feature of the bog garden, although its presence is to be desired when you can use the overflow to feed a marsh. It is essential, that the soil of the marsh garden be kept in a moist, swampy state through out year. The site of the bog garden must, naturally, be low-lying and where the surface drainage will naturally collect. If the subsoil is of sticky clay, a mere trickle of water will keep the ground in a sufficiently moist condition. Should the subsoil be light and well drained, a certain amount of excavation will be necessary before the bog garden can be made.
