The main role of a gender focal point(GFP) is to act as a "catalyst" to assist the process of gender mainstreaming in a respective office or unit. This joint CIM/PAHO project was initiated in 1996. Its objective is to provide information by gender on the impact of world economic integration on health and human development in border areas, taking the border between Mexico and the United States as a focal point.
