Weight-driven clocks, as the name suggests, are mechanical clocks powered by falling weights that hang on a chain or cable. With the aid of gravity, the weights are pulled down slowly, typically in a period of 7 days. After which, the weights go back up. The chain or cable holding the weight needs to be manually pulled up or wound using a crank to start another cycle. 1, record 3, English, - weight%2Ddriven%20clock

The goal of this study is to show the feasibility of designing a space habitat that advances the ability of humans to live in space for long periods. We first review the previous work on space explorations and summarize five unsolved fundamental problems : providing gravity, radiation protection, sustainable life support systems, a large open space for human physiological and psychological comfort(survivable by professionals in trades other than highly trained astronauts), and a growth strategy to avoid the economic infeasibility of starting with the largest final version of the habitat. 1, record 5, English, - space%20habitat

1, record 5, Spanish, - h%C3%A1bitat%20espacial

This theory of the variable speed of light was — and still is — controversial. But according to a... paper published... it could be experimentally tested in the near future. If the experiments validate the theory, it means that the laws of nature weren’t always the same as what we experience today and would require a serious revision of Einstein's theory of gravity. 1, record 41, English, - variable%20speed%20of%20light%20theory

The Canadian Geodetic Survey provides the fundamental reference frame and standards for the measurement of latitude, longitude, elevation and gravity anywhere in Canada and monitors motions of [the] continental landmass in support of geomatics and geoscience. This geospatial reference frame underpins all activities where positions matter, enabling mapping, land surveying, water management and engineering activities in Canada. A growing community of research scientists rely on the program's precise positioning and gravity information to study changes in the Earth. The program is delivered by real-time analysis of global satellite data, supporting client services that enable Canadians to use global navigation satellite systems(e. g. GPS) for precise positioning, including heights above sea-level. 2, record 60, English, - Canadian%20Geodetic%20Survey%3A%20Spatially%20Enabling%20Canada

3, record 69, French, - d%C3%A9canteur%20primaire

All helicopters incorporate a one-way clutch system that allows the rotor blades to continue to rotate under the effects of inertia and autogiro-type flight in the event of engine failure.... the flow of the airstream through the helicopter rotor disk is reversed. The force of gravity continues the operation of the rotor blade, thereby reducing the rate of descent and allowing a successful emergency landing. Because of the time required to effect this change and the necessity for other flight maneuvers, these characteristics led to the development of a restricted area of operations of the helicopter known as the deadman's curve, bounding that area of height and speed in which the helicopter should not be operated. 1, record 96, English, - deadman%26rsquo%3Bs%20curve
