The cleaning process removes grease, vegetable matter and dirt from the raw wool. A set of rakes moves the fleece through a series of tubs(called the scouring train) which contain a detergent solution followed by clear water rinses. It them passes through squeeze rolls, and a conveyor carries the clean wool to a hot-air drying chamber.

We now have a large scourer in Texas who we have helped get certified organic using our special plant based detergents.

Le dégraissage se pratique en soumettant la laine brute à l'action de bains détergents, constitués soit par des solutions de savon dans l'eau, soit par des solutions de détergents synthétiques. On ajoute à ces solutions du carbonate de soude. On a en général, un bac trempeur, deux bacs laveurs et deux bacs rinceurs. Ceci constitue la colonne de lavage.

The removable floating cover consists of an inner and outer ring which are made of fibre reinforced plastic. The outer ring is attached to the foot bridge and is separated from the inner ring by a scumboard. The inner chamber served as a grease collector and is fabricated so that it can be easily removed to aid grease collection. During the waste water treatment process, the grease will rise to the surface in the inner collection ring.

... a grease/oil/water separator containing three tanks to achieve separation : a first separation chamber, a trap tank, and a pump tank. The settling chamber separates out debris from the wastewater; the trap tank separates sludge as well as grease/oil from water by means of gravitational forces encouraged by a diagonal flow path; and the pump tank pumps the grease-separated water through a sand filtering means for further cleaning. The trap tank relies solely upon gravity to achieve separation of the grease from the water, with the cleaned water being removed by a pipe inlet situated near the bottom of the tank. The separator depends entirely upon gravitationally-induced separation of grease/oil and water in the trap tank.
