Polyethersulfone is a new high-temperature engineering thermoplastic with an outstanding long-term resistance to creep at temperatures up to 150°C. It is also capable of being used continuously under load at temperatures of up to about 180°C and, in some low-stress applications, up to 200°C.... While the sulfone group confers high-temperature performance, the ether linkage contributes toward practical processing by allowing mobility of the polymer chain when in the melt phase.... Polyethersulfone is especially resistant to acids, alkalies, oils, greases, and aliphatic hydrocarbons and alcohols. It is attacked by ketones, esters, and some halogenated and aromatic hydrocarbons. 3, record 10, English, - polyethersulfone

The decyl "chain" as shown in formulas 5 through 9 is termed a "straight chain", as one carbon follows another, like the links of a chain. Structures 15 or 16 are termed "branched chains". [An illustration of the formulas follows.] The overall formula for 5-7, C10H21Cl, is the same. Formulas 5-7 each represents "decyl chloride." However 15 and 16 differ in a crucial way. The difference is that formulas 15 and 16 have two "CH3" groups near the left end of the molecule. This is seen more easily in 17, a "condensed formula" that is equivalent to the "line formula" 15. Furthermore, 15 to 17 have a single "CH" group present, whereas 7 has no "CH" groups, only "CH3" and "CH2" groups. The new structure 15 or 17 carries a different name: "isodecyl chloride." 3, record 17, English, - isodecyl%20chloride

Timken lubricant test. The Timken test determines the load at which a film of lubricant will fail and cause scoring. The test consists of a revolving test cup(race) that rubs on a stationary block. Speeds are infinitely variable, but usually run at a race speed of 800 rpm. Load is applied through a lever arrangement, at the end of which the necessary weights are gradually added automatically at a rate of 2. 3 lb/sec. Refined Timken test machines, capable of infinitely variable loading from 0 to 1000 lb, measure friction, wear, and frictional temperature. Failure of lubricant is indicated by scoring of the test block. Tests of oils, greases, compounds, and solid lubricants can be made. [The results of such tests are reported variously in terms that relate to friction, seizure, stick-slip, wear, temperature, and load capacities under constant or different conditions]. 1, record 32, English, - load%20capacity

Timken lubricant test. The Timken test determines the load at which a film of lubricant will fail and cause scoring. The test consists of a revolving test cup(race) that rubs on a stationary block. Speeds are infinitely variable, but usually run at a race speed of 800 rpm. Load is applied through a lever arrangement, at the end of which the necessary weights are gradually added automatically at a rate of 2. 3 lb/sec. Refined Timken test machines, capable of infinitely variable loading from 0 t 1000 lb, measure friction, wear, and frictional temperature.
