2, record 6, French, - interventionnisme

The ICBL was launched in October 1992 by a group of six non-governmental organizations : Handicap International, Human Rights Watch, Medico International, Mines Advisory Group, Physicians for Human Rights and Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation. These founding organizations witnessed the horrendous effect of mines on the communities they were working with in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America and saw how mines hampered and even prevented their development efforts in these countries. The International Campaign to Ban Landmines(ICBL) is a global network in over 70 countries that works for a world free of antipersonnel landmines and cluster munitions, where landmine and cluster munition survivors can lead fulfilling lives. The Campaign was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of its efforts to bring about the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty. Since then, we have been advocating for the words of the treaty to become a reality, demonstrating on a daily basis that civil society has the power to change the world. As a member of the Cluster Munition Coalition, the ICBL is engaged in the global effort to ban cluster munitions and to address their humanitarian impact. In December 2006, the ICBL decided to engage extensively in the global effort to prohibit cluster munitions. This marked the first time that the ICBL had become significantly engaged on an issue other than antipersonnel mines. The main reasons for the ICBL' s decision were that cluster munitions inevitably end up leaving behind large numbers of unexploded ’duds’ which behave essentially like antipersonnel mines; that many ICBL members had been already working extensively on cluster munitions; and that international efforts to achieve a global ban on cluster munitions were at a crucial point, a point where the ICBL could have a meaningful impact. 1, record 7, English, - International%20Campaign%20to%20Ban%20Landmines

1, record 7, French, - Campagne%20internationale%20pour%20interdire%20les%20mines

During the 1980s and 1990s a pivotal change has taken place in the world economy : a comprehensive supply-side revolution has affected a major liberalization of the world economy to the extent that even though a large number of markets or segments of the economy remain hampered by rigidities, price increases in those sectors are not allowed to spread and turn into a systemic inflation. Instead, they are absorbed into more efficient market segments. 1, record 14, English, - systemic%20inflation

Precision farming is the wave of the future. Precision farming is any technological development which will help farmers gain a production advantage. It can range from a yield monitor on a combine, to idientifying WIND-BLOWN KNOLLS which can be enhanced with manure applications, to complex satellites which can mark precise locations in a field within centimeters. Precision farming is basically assessing the variability of the soil and then learning to manage the variability to optimize productivity. 1, record 16, English, - wind%2Dblown%20knoll

One innovative Granton area farmer is experimenting with ways to restore the productivity of his eroded knolls. As a Tillage 2000 Program co-operator, Wilf Riddell saw areas of his fields that consistently yielded poorly. The problem areas were on the side slopes where a lack of topsoil, organic matter and moisture severely hampered yields. 2, record 16, English, - wind%2Dblown%20knoll

Since the enactment of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms in 1982 there have been many cases in which courts in Canada at all levels excepting the Supreme Court of Canada have expressed views on the meaning of "bringing the administration of justice into disrepute" within the meaning of s. 24(2) of the Charter. The most helpful views are contained in several cases extensively reviewed by Coleman, J., in Lysohirka et al.... and start with the comment of Lamer, J. A., in Rothman...(Pre-Charter) wherein he comments at page 152 :... "The judge, in determining whether under the circumstances the use of the statement in the proceedings would bring the administration of justice into disrepute, should consider all of the circumstances of the proceedings, the manner in which the statement was obtained, the degree to which there was a breach of social values, the seriousness of the charge and the effect the exclusion would have on the result of the proceedings. It must also be borne in mind that the investigation of crime and the detection of criminals is not a game to be governed by the Marquess of Queensbury rules. The authorities, in dealing with shrewd and often sophisticated criminals, must sometimes of necessity resort to tricks or other forms of deceit, and should not through the rule be hampered in their work. What should be repressed vigorously is conduct on their part that shocks the community". These comments are now often referred to as the "community shock" test.... 3, record 18, English, - community%20shock%20test
