Space telerobotics is an inherently complex task, requiring mental visualization skills, fine motor visualization skills, fine motor control, and adhering to procedure and flight rules. Often space telerobotics is accomplished only using video views of the work area, so the robotic arm operator must interpret two dimensional images to create a 3D [three-dimensional] mental model of the environment and their position inside it, all the while being aware of arm kinematics and limitations, avoiding collisions, and following procedural flight rules. To add to the workload, they also control the arm in six degrees of freedom, using separate rotational and translational hand controls, where the movement axes are frequently not aligned with camera views(e. g., the operator views the scene backwards or upside down). 1, record 1, English, - space%20telerobotics

The URCHIN2 underwater video system is a tethered camera system which telemeters video signals to the surface for recording and geo-referencing. The system can be hand deployed to a depth of 100 meters for a variety of marine benthic survey types, including substrate identification, habitat classification, and species enumeration. The name URCHIN is an acronym for "Underwater Reconnaissance for Coastal and Habitat Inventory. "... The current work is primarily focused on testing and documenting the newest version of the URCHIN2 for benthic habitat mapping and classification.... upgrades and testing include the implementation of a benthic positioning system such as "Trackpoint" or "Tracklink, "a slip-ring winch system for cable management, and a Thales Mobile Mapper receiver to provide survey grade positioning. 1, record 3, English, - survey%20grade%20positioning

1, record 3, French, - positionnement%20de%20pr%C3%A9cision

The drawing apparatus does not project an image originating from the microscope, it rather adds an external image, that of the drawing, to the one normally observed in the microscope eyepiece.... The drawing attachment described here fits easily between the binocular tube and the tube support of a Wild compound microscope. It is a tubular piece, protruding horizontally to the left or the right hand of the observer.... Similar "drawing tubes" for camera lucida viewing with stereomicroscopes are also available. Because each ocular in the stereomicroscope produces an image of the specimen from a different angle, both images together give the impression of 3D-vision, but obviously, the drawing picked up from the drawing tube can be superimposed with only one of the two members of the stereopair. 1, record 4, English, - drawing%20tube

Dextre [Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator] is designed so that only one arm can move at a time in order to avoid self-collision, achieve greater stability and maintain operational similarity with Canadarm2. The greater stability is provided by the immobile arm, which is first commanded to anchor Dextre to an ISS [International Space Station] stabilization point. At the tip of each arm, we find a "hand", known technically as the Orbital Replacement Unit/Tool Changeout Mechanism(OTCM). The OTCM consists of a set of parallel retractable jaws, which serve to grip payloads and tools. Each OTCM is also equipped with a retractable motorized socket wrench to mate and demate mechanisms on-orbit, as well as lights and a black and white camera. Dextre lower body is equipped with a pair of pan/tilt colour cameras that allow astronauts aboard the ISS, and engineers on the ground, to monitor the task, which is out of direct eyesight. 1, record 8, English, - orbital%20replacement%20unit%2Ftool%20changeout%20mechanism

1, record 8, French, - changeur%20d%27outils%20et%20d%27unit%C3%A9s%20rempla%C3%A7ables%20sur%20orbite

ERA [European Robotic Arm] is a large robot by any standards-it is about 11. 3 m long and weighs some 630 kg. It is functionally symmetrical, with each end supporting an "End Effector" that works either as a hand for the robot or as a base from which the arm can operate. ERA has seven joints(in order : roll, yaw, pitch, pitch, pitch, yaw, roll), of which six can operate at any one time.
