When the "haul in" signal is given on the docking telegraph …, the operator pulls on the slack end of the rope that is wound loosely round the drum of the winch. This tightens the rope slightly on the drum and it grips the surface. The amount of tension on the free end of the rope is multiplied several hundred times and the resulting force is enough to move the entire ship, pulling it into the correct position. The [captain] signals with the docking telegraph or a hand held radio to tell the winch operator what to do and, by heaving in and paying out the ropes at each end of the ship, she can be positioned in exactly the right place regardless of the wind and waves. 1, record 2, English, - docking%20telegraph

The compost finishing drawer, the second independent chamber [of the three chamber system], is immediately below the composting drum, and just above the evaporating chamber. Compost in this drawer is totally isolated from material in the Bio-drum. Although it is no longer subject to contamination from fresh waste, it should not be used on edible vegetable. While in the finishing drawer, the compost is surrounded by a stream of drying air, and absorbs the radiant heat from the evaporating chamber. It is here that composting and sanitation are completed, and the compost becomes safe to handle. The finishing drawer can be pulled out and removed by hand(no tools or screws are needed) and the sanitized compost emptied whenever it is necessary to extract more compost from the drum. 1, record 7, English, - compost%20finishing%20drawer
