Hand pressers smooth and shape fabric and place articles in position on an ironing board or work table. They push and pull hand irons over the surface of articles. They adjust the temperature of the iron according to the fabric type. If not using a steam iron, pressers spray water over the fabric to soften fibers. 2, record 1, English, - hand%20presser

Sulphide facies. This consists of pyritic carbonaceous argillites... The main sulphide is pyrite which can be so fine-grained that its presence may be overlooked in hand specimen unless the rock is polished. The normal pyrite content is around 37%. The banding is due to the concentration of pyrite into certain layers. This facies clearly formed under anaerobic conditions. Its high sulphur content precludes its exploitation as an iron ore. 3, record 2, English, - sulphide%20facies

Mechanical corn shellers that were turned by hand or powered by horses were available in the mid 1800's. There were two main types of shellers : the picker-wheel sheller and the cylinder or cage-type sheller. In the picker-wheel sheller the cob was shelled as it was rubbed between a rough surfaced rotating iron disk and a guide wheel which wedged the cob close to the disk until it was shelled. The shelled corn was thrown out the side of the sheller and the shelled corn dropped through the bottom of the sheller into a container. 1, record 9, English, - picker%2Dwheel%20sheller

Blocking knife.... The blade is forged to an iron bar varying in length from 1 to 4 ft. This bar has a hook at one end, and a handle, often T-shaped, at the other. The hook engages with an eye-bolt fixed to a bench or stool to form a hinge. In operation, one hand holds the wood to be shaped, while the other, by moving the knife up and down, pares away the unwanted wood, using the bar as a lever.
