Washing and Scrubbing the Ore. Washing of run-of-mine ore removes obscuring dust and casual dirt from the surface of the pieces and facilitates recognition when hand picking is to be practised. A second effect may be the removal of primary slimes of no value. Clays, colloidal fines, and similar valueless material can easily be taken out at the earlier stages, but may be difficult to remove once fine crushing has liberated a substantial quantity of finely shattered mineral.... The disintegrating forces used are of a gentle nature, not intended to fracture the ore but simply to tumble particle against particle until the desired amount of cleansing has been accomplished. 2, record 3, English, - scrubbing
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 OBS

Record number: 4, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The compost finishing drawer, the second independent chamber [of the three chamber system], is immediately below the composting drum, and just above the evaporating chamber. Compost in this drawer is totally isolated from material in the Bio-drum. Although it is no longer subject to contamination from fresh waste, it should not be used on edible vegetable. While in the finishing drawer, the compost is surrounded by a stream of drying air, and absorbs the radiant heat from the evaporating chamber. It is here that composting and sanitation are completed, and the compost becomes safe to handle. The finishing drawer can be pulled out and removed by hand(no tools or screws are needed) and the sanitized compost emptied whenever it is necessary to extract more compost from the drum. 1, record 4, English, - compost%20finishing%20drawer

Record number: 4, Textual support number: 1 CONT
