To perform a "power slide" a pair of gloves is essential. As the rider comes in to do a power slide he crouches and then places a hand on the ground(his right if he wishes to turn to the right). He then twists his body in the desired direction, extending his legs as he does so and meanwhile making sure that his feet remain firmly on the board. The wheels slide crossways over the ground and when the turn is completed the rider draws the board back underneath him.

MACE [Middeck Active Control Experiment] studies the effects of vibrations on moving structures in space. The results are expected to help engineers design and build lighter, stronger, space structures. The experiment platform is 60 inches(152 cm) long, including four struts and five nodes. Astronauts use a hand control unit to make gimbals and reaction wheels on one side to vibrate while gimbals and wheels on the other side try to damp the vibration.

Receiving hoods are positioned to catch contaminants that are discharged from an operation in a predictable direction. Examples of receiving hoods include canopies located over a hot process in which hot exhaust fumes rise to the hood level by their own buoyancy, and hoods located adjacent to grinding wheels to catch the stream of dust generated by the spinning wheel. Receiving hoods may physically resemble capture hoods, but they differ with respect to the principle used for contaminant capture. Capture hoods operate at a higher flow rate to generate the air velocities necessary to capture contaminants from a source some distance from the hood opening. Receiving hoods, on the other hand, are positioned to catch the stream of contaminants delivered to them by forces intrinsic to the operation.
