An International Development Research Centre (IRDC) Project. The Farm Machinery Unit of Malawi, in conjunction with the Tropical Development and Research Institute, developed the first model of a hand-operated wooden groundnut sheller. IDRC funded further testing and modification of the sheller, and initial trials were run for a confectionery groundnut variety. Market standards — 90% average whole kernel efficiency (WKE) or 10% visible kernel damage — were met.

Un projet du Centre de recherches pour le développement international (CRDI). En collaboration avec l'Institut de recherche sur le développement des zones tropicales, le Service des machines agricoles du Malawi a mis au point le premier modèle de décortiqueur d'arachides manuel en bois. Le CRDI a financé d'autres essais et la modification du décortiqueur, puis les premiers essais pratiques ont été réalisés avec une variété d'arachides destinées à la confiserie. Le décortiqueur a permis de respecter les normes du marché : efficience moyenne de 90 % pour les graines complètes ou 10 % de dommages visibles aux graines.
