The ICBL was launched in October 1992 by a group of six non-governmental organizations :Handicap International, Human Rights Watch, Medico International, Mines Advisory Group, Physicians for Human Rights and Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation. These founding organizations witnessed the horrendous effect of mines on the communities they were working with in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America and saw how mines hampered and even prevented their development efforts in these countries. The International Campaign to Ban Landmines(ICBL) is a global network in over 70 countries that works for a world free of antipersonnel landmines and cluster munitions, where landmine and cluster munition survivors can lead fulfilling lives. The Campaign was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of its efforts to bring about the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty. Since then, we have been advocating for the words of the treaty to become a reality, demonstrating on a daily basis that civil society has the power to change the world. As a member of the Cluster Munition Coalition, the ICBL is engaged in the global effort to ban cluster munitions and to address their humanitarian impact. In December 2006, the ICBL decided to engage extensively in the global effort to prohibit cluster munitions. This marked the first time that the ICBL had become significantly engaged on an issue other than antipersonnel mines. The main reasons for the ICBL' s decision were that cluster munitions inevitably end up leaving behind large numbers of unexploded ’duds’ which behave essentially like antipersonnel mines; that many ICBL members had been already working extensively on cluster munitions; and that international efforts to achieve a global ban on cluster munitions were at a crucial point, a point where the ICBL could have a meaningful impact. 1, record 17, English, - International%20Campaign%20to%20Ban%20Landmines

1, record 17, French, - Campagne%20internationale%20pour%20interdire%20les%20mines

Bipedal gait and purposeful movement are astounding abilities of humans. The integration of spatial position, stability of balance, and locomotion is complex... In humans the bulk of weight is in the proximal parts of the limbs and trunk... Such a structure is inherently unstable and prone to falls. The success of the human species with such an "engineering handicap" seems surprising at first, but there are important advantages in bipedal locomotion. It allows quick positional changes in all directions and rapid acceleration and deceleration in emergencies, it offers a good view of the surrounding environment and, probably most importantly, it minimises the energy expenditure of movement... 2, record 23, English, - bipedal%20gait

2, record 23, French, - marche%20bip%C3%A8de

It is organized internationally by the European Pitch and Putt Association since 1999, by the International Pitch and Putt Federation since 2006 and by the International Pitch and Putt Associations since 2009.

Undefeated players should play other undefeated players so that the tournament eventually comes to an end. Players play other players with the same number of points. Players should never play the same person twice. Players should only receive one more bye than any other person in the tournament at any given time. Therefore, if a player is about to receive his/her second bye before another player has yet to receive any byes, these players should be swapped. 1, record 64, French, - as%2Dgolfeur

Handicapping in tennis... Known players are allotted a handicap annually that mirrors their competitive results.... Points are awarded as either received or owed odds in each group of six games of a set, according to your standard of play. Players cannot be given a handicap greater than owe 50, or more than receive 40... For the purpose of matching the handicaps of different handicap players, handicaps are also graded above and below scratch(the handicap of 0), where. 1 owed or received equals a handicap of 1/6 of 15 owed or received.... When both players are handicapped to receive points or both to owe points, they play on the difference of their respective handicaps. In the case of received odds the player with the less odds goes back to scratch(love) and in owed odds he goes forward to scratch.... when players meet with handicaps on either side of scratch, two points owed are equal to one received.... 1, record 83, English, - scratch
