Human-robot interaction currently takes many forms. Dangerous tasks, such as urban search and rescue … and hazardous material clean up …, require a human operator to be removed from the physical location of the robot. Robots that assist the elderly … and the handicapped … share the same physical space with their users, often transporting them through the world. Others … provide entertainment and companionship for people. We maintain that human-robot interaction(HRI) is a subset of the field of human-computer interaction(HCI).

OBS

The goal of antimicrobial susceptibility testing is to predict the in vivo success or failure of antibiotic therapy. Tests are performed in vitro, and measure the growth response of an isolated organism to a particular drug or drugs. The tests are performed under standardized conditions so that the results are reproducible. The test results should be used to guide antibiotic choice. The results of antimicrobial susceptibility testing should be combined with clinical information and experience when selecting the most appropriate antibiotic for your patient.

CONT

The emergence and dissemination of resistance has made it imperative for laboratories to use in vitro tests that can detect resistance. The concept of antimicrobial resistance testing(ART) should replace antimicrobial susceptibility testing(AST). ART requires flexibility in testing systems and current AST methods are often handicapped. This is due to an over emphasis on standardization, not accounting for the diversity and complexity of resistance mechanisms.

  • Tort Law (common law)
DEF

A test used in an action for negligence where a defendant will be held liable if he should reasonably have foreseen that consequences of a certain kind were likely to result.

CONT

The nervous shock cases raise... the question whether a person's peculiar susceptibility to injury entitles him to special regard in the exercise of care from others. There used to be impressive support for the view that conformity to an external and objective standard of normality was postulated for plaintiff and defendant alike.... Eventually, however, this viewpoint yielded to the more open-minded foreseeability test... we have come to recognize that even those endowed with less psychic robustness than the model person or the physically handicapped are entitled to consideration from those whose activities foreseeably create unreasonable hazards in their path....

DEF

A swimming pool, especially an indoor one; a complex containing one or more such pools.

CONT

A natatorium is, strictly speaking, a structurally separate building containing a swimming pool. In Latin, a cella naratariua was a swimming pool in its own building; thus, the sense was much as now. ... It is usually taken for granted that it will also house locker rooms, and perhaps capacity for allied activities, such as a diving tank, facilities for water polo, and so forth. Many colleges and universities have natatoria.

CONT

Located adjacent to Ahearn Field House, the Natatorium is handicapped accessible and includes two 25-yard pools with pacer clock, diving well with 3 meter & 1 meter boards, and sunning deck.

CONT

Located in the fieldhouse on the campus of Prince George’s Community College, the Bickford Natatorium includes a heated, 50-meter, indoor swimming pool, an indoor heated training pool, an indoor heated whirlpool, and locker rooms.
