A broke handling and repulping system is an essential feature on any paper machine. As a minimum, a wet-end pulper(couch pit) is necessary after the forming section and presses, and a dry-end pulper is required to take waste from the dryers, calenders, reel and winder. During threading and machine breaks, both systems must be capable of handling maximum tonnage from the machine. At the same time, both systems are required to handle small amounts on a continuous basis(e. g., couch trim at the wet end; winder trim and "slab-off" returns at the dry end).
