Weight-driven clocks, as the name suggests, are mechanical clocks powered by falling weights that hang on a chain or cable. With the aid of gravity, the weights are pulled down slowly, typically in a period of 7 days. After which, the weights go back up. The hang-up is when a static line student exits the aircraft and becomes suspended beneath it either by its static line or a fowled canopy.

CONT

One of the more dramatic problems is the static line hang-up or student in tow. It occurs when you or some part of your equipment entangles with the static line preventing separation. You wind up suspended about ten feet below the aircraft by the long nylon web... Now, your jumpmaster will cut the static line and you will fall away. Pull the reserve ripcord. Be sure you are cut loose before you pull.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Telephone Services
CONT

This service, initially offered in competition to established public telecommunication operators, is now increasingly part of PTO services. Call-back can potentially offer substantial savings to consumers. Most US-based call-back services rely on uncompleted call signalling systems. This type of call-back service solicits pre-subscribed customers in a foreign country to dial a US telephone number and, after a certain number of rings, to hang up. The US call-back company then initiates a call to the foreign telephone number and when the foreign caller answers, he or she receives a US dial tone from the switch at the reseller's US location. The customer can then place a call in the United States or to a foreign destination.

The extrusion head used in blow molding is one of three basic styles : the spider or axial flow head, the side feed or radial flow head, and the accumulator head. In the simplest form of the spider or axial flow head, a central torpedo is positioned in the melt flow path supported generally by two spider legs. The smooth and direct path with little or no place for material to hang up and degrade makes this head ideal for PVC resin. Cross-sectional areas of the melt flow path from the extruder, over the torpedo, and over the spider legs are carefully balanced to ensure an even and consistent pressure and flow.
