DEF

That part of a landscape referring to trees, plant materials and animals as opposed to non living elements as rock, brick, wood, etc. which are part of the hard landscape.

CONT

Sculpture in the landscape has been used in the landscape since the most ancient of times. It has been used to define the edges of outdoor "rooms", to provide a terminus to a visual axis, and act as a subject of private contemplation. Subject field(s)

CONT

Engineering bricks. Often blue in colour, these are high quality bricks with precise dimensions and high compressive strength. They can be used in foundations, retaining walls and other structures -sometimes in conjunction with steel reinforcement. They have a low water absorbency which enables them to be used as bases and capping courses to bricks of higher absorbency. Today, their distinctive appearance has found favour with architects and blue engineering bricks are often used for purely aesthetic reasons.

OBS

OBS
