A careful balance is needed between the amount of rosin required to provide sufficient biocide release and the quantity of the other film-forming components used to make the coating tough and durable. As the rosin content increases the binder system becomes softer and more soluble in seawater whereas a low rosin content makes the binder system virtually insoluble and hard. Antifoulings which are softer and more soluble are known as “controlled depletion polymer”(CDP) or soluble matrix antifoulings, whereas the hard types are known as insoluble matrix or “contact leaching” antifoulings. 3, record 5, English, - controlled%20depletion%20polymer%20antifouling

Contact leaching paint, also known as hard-racing or long-life paints, are also free-association types but have an insoluble matrix. Continuous biocide release is generated by the high biocide concentration ensuring that biocide particles contact each other through the paint film. As surface biocide is released, microchannels are created which permit release of biocide from deeper in the coating. Biocide release rates decrease exponentially with time and effective life is again limited to periods rarely exceeding 18 months. 3, record 6, English, - contact%20leaching%20antifouling%20paint

The laser-engraved anilox roll, introduced about 20 years ago, consists of a plasma-sprayed ceramic coating(typically chromium oxide) that is ground and honed to a very smooth finish(in the neighborhood of 5 RMS). The ceramic coating is extremely hard, with a micro-hardness of 1150 to 1300 Vickers.(For comparison, the hardness of chrome plating is around 850 to 950 Vickers.) Hardness is widely used as a guide to strength, wear and erosion resistance of a coating. Due to its extreme hardness, it is not possible to engrave these coatings using a knurling tool. The only way to produce cells in this material is to engrave it with a laser. 2, record 8, English, - laser%20engraved%20anilox%20roll

The acquisition of a vacuum plasma spray forming system for mechanical and industrial engineering.... The project objective was to procure engineering services for the fabrication of a vacuum plasma spray forming system used as a research tool in spray coating research. Plasma spraying has the advantage of spraying materials with a very high melting point, such as refractory metals like tungsten, molybdenum and ceramics like zirconia. VPSF process enables the manufacture of parts from hard to machine materials such as ceramics, carbides, super alloys, etc. Very often, the VPSF is the only process for production of complex shape parts(such as rocket nozzles) from hard and brittle materials. 2, record 10, English, - vacuum%20plasma%20spray%20forming

2, record 10, French, - formage%20par%20projection%20plasma%20sous%20vide

Surfacing is a term used to describe processes of depositing metal on surfaces of tools and machine parts in order to increase their dimensional sizes or to obtain some specific mechanical property.... The two main categories of surfacing are known as hardfacing and metallizing. Hardfacing is a fusion technique and includes processes which are designed to produce hard, tough overlays to resist severe abrasion, corrosion, and impact loads. Metallizing is a spray coating procedure where finely divided particles of metal are deposited on surfaces where metal has worn away or where it is necessary to build up certain contours. Hardfacing is actually a fusion weld process in which a special hardfacing rod, wire, or electrode is intermixed with the base metal. 1, record 17, English, - hardfacing
