Instrument for measurement of the amount of the solid precipitation deposit.

Ice meter... Objective methods of the icing measurements are based on the icing weight determination related to the unit of area(in meteorology) or to the unit of length(in power supply). The hard rime was determined with the aid of the so-called icing meter bars. They were represented by two wooden bars of 32 mm diameter and 1 m length, i. e. the surface area equals 0, 1 m² per 1 bar. Bars were placed horizontally and perpendicularly to each other. First of them was oriented in north-south direction, the second east-west. The amount of water was measured and result recalculated to kg. m-². These ice meter bars made possible quite reliable evaluation of the icing without having the continual measurement. Nevertheless they are not used contemporary in the meteorological service.

OBS

Ice-accretion indicators are as capable of measuring freezing drizzle as freezing rain. They are not designed to measure wet snow nor in-cloud icing. Measurements of other types of atmospheric icing are not included in our statistics.

A large, flat, usually delta-shaped motorless aircraft with an attached harness or seat, designed to carry a person or two people through the air for a short while.

Hang gliders can be rigid or semi-rigid. Semi-rigid, which is the most common type, have aluminium spars and battens in their wings, but are covered in a tight sheath of Dacron cloth. Rigid hang gliders are made of hard, composite materials such as glass fibre and are becoming increasingly popular. In both cases, the pilot is suspended in a harness beneath the glider in a face down position and controls the direction and speed by moving a triangular control frame to shift his or her weight beneath the wing.

An anti-bird roosting device for protecting an area, comprising at least a pair of cooperating base elements mounted on the area to be protected, and a plurality of projecting spikes, supported on the base elements and projecting away therefrom into a space above the area to be protected. The spikes are provided in a pattern of interspersed combinations of vertical, obtuse and acute angle-forming projections, in a high spike density that prevents roosting in the protected space. Thus, each point in the area to be protected is defended by more than one spike, each spike coming from a different direction, so as to cross-defend each other, creating a perimeter envelope defense of the air volume surrounding the base elements. Each device is easily and inexpensively prepared as a continuous mesh, whose dimensions can be constructed in standard sizes or in accordance with the needs of the user. The element diameter is typically approximately two millimeters. The small element diameter makes the entire device hard to see from a distance so that it does not detract from the building's aesthetics.

Nixalite is a system of stainless steel strips that feature needle-like wire prongs. The prongs project from a 0.5 centimetre base and come in two lengths - 5 and 9.5 centimetres. Actually drip irrigation -- where water seeps from tubing or drip emitters -- is only one type of micro-irrigation. Other forms include bubblers, micro-sprinklers (which rotate), and micro-sprayers (which are stationary).

Microsprinklers are like drippers as they do not require any special maintenance unless there is a problem. One of the things you will run into most often is the need to adjust the spray direction if they have moved. The other thing may be hard water deposits on the deflectors or nozzles. Some sprinklers you can clean this off and others you may need to replace occasionally. Occasionally does not mean every year or even two, it all depends on your water quality. Just check how they work every once in awhile.... Microsprinklers : 2 models, 21 gph/27 ft. diameter and 11 gph/21 ft. diameter. Both come with 90°, 180°, 360° and strip spray deflectors. Has 10/32 threads, fits any 1/4" microtube.

Rapid plows. The Loebbehobel is a rapid plow which is equipped with three or four protruding picks or bits. The plow is double-ended and cuts as it traverses in each direction along the face. The machine normally travels at a speed of about 75 ft/min and takes a slice of coal 3-4 in. thick off the face at each pass. It is pulled to and fro by an endless chain which is driven by the gearheads at each end of the armored conveyor. Maximum pulling force is about 20 tons. This machine is capable of working in seams 1 ft 8 in. thick up to 7 ft thick and can produce, load, and deliver to a gate conveyor from 1. 5 to 5 tons/min. The plow works well in seams which are soft or are hard but friable but will not work well in coal which is "tough" or "woody".
