Record number: 8, Textual support number: 1 CONT

Record number: 14, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The lidar technique operates on the same principle as radar; in fact, it is sometimes called laser radar. The principal difference between lidar and radar is the wavelength of the radiation used. Radar uses wavelengths in the radio band whereas lidar uses light, that is usually generated by lasers in modern lidar systems. 7, record 14, English, - lidar
Record number: 14, Textual support number: 2 CONT
There are three basic generic types of lidar : range finders, DIAL, and Doppler lidars. Rande finder lidars are the simplest lidars. They are used to measure the distance from the lidar instrument to a solid or hard target Differential Absorption Lidar(DIAL) is used to measure chemical concentrations(such as ozone, water vapor, pollutants) in the atmosphere. Doppler lidar is used to measure the velocity of a target High-resolution DEMs with vertical accuracy as good as 10 cm can be created with Lidar. Lidar is also better able to map bare earth elevations in forested or vegetated areas than other methods because only a single laser pulse needs to be able to reach between trees and the ground. 8, record 14, English, - lidar

The format of what would become the Shearwater International Air Show or SIAS began to crystallize in 1981. Obviously, it could not compete with bigger shows playing to larger population centres. So, if the biggest was not possible, SIAS aimed to be the best. The show's search for excellence was rewarded by many successes; air displays equaling any in the country and over 75 different static aircraft from as many as seven countries. In addition, over 80 high-quality ground exhibits were displayed, including such as an Iraqi Scud missile and the weapon which brought it down, the US Army's Patriot System. Efforts to raise the Nova Scotia International Air Show(NSIAS) from the ashes were unsuccessful in 1996, but a few dedicated believers took on the task to try again for 1997 and were more than rewarded for their efforts. NSIAS 97 was a co-production of the three levels of government, the private sector and the military in the Atlantic Region. A lot of hard work, negotiations and good will produced a first class show that had all the trade marks of past SIAS events and then some. With a superb two-day attendance and an overall economic impact exceeding 14 million dollars, Shearwater and Nova Scotia were clearly on the air show map. 1, record 16, English, - Nova%20Scotia%20International%20Air%20Show

The laser-engraved anilox roll, introduced about 20 years ago, consists of a plasma-sprayed ceramic coating(typically chromium oxide) that is ground and honed to a very smooth finish(in the neighborhood of 5 RMS). The ceramic coating is extremely hard, with a micro-hardness of 1150 to 1300 Vickers.(For comparison, the hardness of chrome plating is around 850 to 950 Vickers.) Hardness is widely used as a guide to strength, wear and erosion resistance of a coating. Due to its extreme hardness, it is not possible to engrave these coatings using a knurling tool. The only way to produce cells in this material is to engrave it with a laser. 2, record 21, English, - laser%20engraved%20anilox%20roll

[You can] prevent lameness and frustration when you lose a shoe far from home and still finish your ride without compromising the health and safety of your horse. Easy Boots can also be worn in place of steel shoes or even over steel shoes for additional protection, traction and cushioning on rocks and hard ground. These boots are ideal for horses with laminitis, founder, abscesses and other hoof-related medical problems. Made from durable urethane and in sizes to fit most horses, these boots will outlast any steel shoe! 3, record 22, English, - easy%2Dboot

Mechanical street sweepers are the "heavy duty" machines of the industry; having the capability to move the most material in the least amount of time. This general class of street sweeper utilize a system of brooms and either a "squeegee" or belt conveyor to move debris from the ground into a hopper contained within the street sweeper. A mechanical broom sweeper can pick up large chunks of debris. A mechanical broom sweeper can "dig into" and remove hard packed dirt and mud. Mechanical sweepers are very efficient when picking up wet leaves, large aggregate particles, small limbs, smashed cans, etc. Dust control for this type of machine can be a problem because of the churning action of the brooms. The onboard street sweeper water spraying system(dust control) will generally mitigate dust when working in low debris areas. 1, record 25, English, - mechanical%20street%20sweeper

By the time the space frame truss segments are ready for launch, they have been fitted with such hardware as electric lines, batteries, antennas, gyroscopes, robotic arms, solar panel assemblies, and heat radiators. The actual truss is hard to identify once all the equipment is loaded onto it; there's no wasted space. Subsurface drip irrigation is a variation of traditional drip irrigation where the tubing and emitters are buried beneath the soil surface, rather than laid on the ground or suspended from wires. The products being used today in subsurface drip irrigation come in three basic configurations :hard hose, drip tape, and porous tubing.... Porous pipe products emit water all along the length of the tubing. There are literally thousands of places per meter where water weeps out of the tubing. This design has shown resistance to plugging by roots. The disadvantage is its flow path is by far the smallest of the three configurations. This increases the likelihood of plugging by fine particles. It typically has the largest coefficient of manufacturing variability of the three configurations, which can be a major detriment because it prevents high distribution uniformities and high efficiencies. 5, record 28, English, - porous%20tube

Gyroscopic principles. Any spinning object possesses gyroscopic characteristics. The central mechanism of the gyroscope is a wheel similar to a bicycle wheel. It’s outer rim has a heavy mass. Hands-on experience with gyroscopes is a good way to help children understand rotational motion. Have students experiment with spinning tops on a large, hard, flat surface such as the gymnasium floor. The students should set the tops spinning and make observations about what happens when they push the spinning tops in certain directions. They can try applying force to the gyroscopes at different heights from the ground to see how this affects the movement of a spinning top. All this can be related to gyroscopic principles(such as precession and gyroscopic inertia), as well as applications of these principles(satellites, bicycles, etc.) in real life. 3, record 30, English, - gyroscopic%20principle
