CONT

Truck hunting is wheel set oscillation caused by the dynamic response of a railway car truck when operating above certain speeds. The truck oscillates between the rails with hard flange contact occurring at regular intervals of 30 to 50 feet. Truck hunting occurs on tangent track and is more severe where the track is stiff and where CWR [continuous welded rail] is laid. It normally does not begin until around 45 to 50 mph in the case of cars with worn wheels, and 55 to 60 mph for cars with new wheels.

  • Drainage and Irrigation (Agric.)
CONT

Drip Irrigation - A watering technique that reduces water use by 20 - 50%, utilizing a series of hoses and small emitters or porous tubing to deliver small amounts of water to individual plants.

CONT

Subsurface drip irrigation is a variation of traditional drip irrigation where the tubing and emitters are buried beneath the soil surface, rather than laid on the ground or suspended from wires. The products being used today in subsurface drip irrigation come in three basic configurations :hard hose, drip tape, and porous tubing.... Porous pipe products emit water all along the length of the tubing. There are literally thousands of places per meter where water weeps out of the tubing. This design has shown resistance to plugging by roots. The disadvantage is its flow path is by far the smallest of the three configurations. This increases the likelihood of plugging by fine particles. It typically has the largest coefficient of manufacturing variability of the three configurations, which can be a major detriment because it prevents high distribution uniformities and high efficiencies.

With drip tapes, the tubing wall thickness from 0. 1 to 0. 5 mm(4-20 mils). The thinner materials are more commonly found in single season or throw away applications, typical of strawberry production. The heavier wall materials ranging from 0. 35 to 0. 50 mm(15-20 mils) are more commonly found in multi-year applications or where the extra strength is required due to stones or other problems identified at the field site.

DEF

CONT

No hard and fast rule can be laid down for the correct electrical resistance to render paint most suitable for electrostatic atomization but, in general, paints having lower electrical resistances tend to atomize more satisfactorily. The resistance is adjusted by means of polar solvents using a resistance meter(...)

CONT
