Shot blasting is done to bring about a good, clean surface of metal. Shot blasting machines are normally utilized in the mining industry, as well as some transporting industries. Wheelabrator structural steel shot blast cleaning systems have been designed to clean different structural shapes for before or after fabrication. They are also commonly used in the foundry industry.

wheelaborator.... The [castings] are tumbled about in a cabinet on a horizontal belt and at the same time are subjected to bombardment by a stream of metal shot. This latter is maintained by feeding the shot on to the blades of an impeller. The shot are then projected centrifugally at high speed on to the castings. This method is more economical and admits of better control of the abrasive than is possible using air jets. The moving belt must, of course, be well covered with parts to be cleaned, and the impeller blades should preferably be of some hard metal such as high-silicon iron.

Solid tires. Introduced in 1881 on the wheels of hansom cabs in London and formerly used for many types of road vehicles, solid tires disappeared from highways, mostly because of legislation that discouraged their use because they were hard on roads. Large sizes were supplanted by large pneumatic tires(truck and bus casings), but small solid tires came to be used extensively on industrial trucks and tractors. A cavesson resembles a heavy, well fitting halter and is the preferred headpiece for longeing(lungeing) English horses. "Breaking" cavessons are generally made of stout leather with heavy metal nosepieces and have straps to fasten them securely and keep them in position because during "breaking" it is often necessary to tug or pull quite hard on the line to control the horse. Lighter, simpler cavessons are also available for the very young horse, the already-trained horse, for use with a bit or bridle, and for use as a dropped noseband.

The traditional cavesson is made from leather but nylon cavessons are also available. A longeing (lungeing) cavesson has a padded noseband with a jointed metal nosepiece that usually has 3 swivel-mounted rings attached to it. Generally the middle ring is used for longeing (lungeing) unless a horse carries his head to the outside of the circle extremely. In that case, the inside cavesson ring can be used to bend the horse inward on the longeing (lungeing) circle. The side rings are also used for side rein attachment or long line attachment.
