Par exemple, un diapason dont le son fondamental à pour fréquence 261Hz (do3) à pour premier partiel une vibration de fréquence 827 Hz (sol3dièse) qui n'est pas un harmonique du son fondamental. Il ne faut pas confondre partiels et harmoniques.
