The hybrid trajectory combines a free-return trajectory and a non free-return trajectory. Such trajectory is widely used due to the unlimited accessible lunar surface in theory. However, the hybrid trajectory doesn’t have the ability of auto return during the flight other than in the initial free return trajectory. Therefore, abort trajectory must be taken into consideration during the trajectory design. 2, record 1, English, - hybrid%20trajectory

The Amsler grid is a chart that is specifically designed to qualitatively analyze the disturbances of visual function that accompany the beginning and evolution of maculopathies. The charts are a series of lined and patterned grids that test the central visual field within 10 degrees of fixation where the plates are held at 1/3 of a meter from the eyes. Each square of the grid subtends [one] degree of visual angle, making the ability to define the location of small defects rather easy.... The Amsler grid test is quick and easy to administer. The patient is instructed to look at the central dot and asked if, in fact, he/she can see it. If not, the patient may have a central scotoma, and the examiner must query the patient regarding exactly what he/she "does" see. If the patient sees the dot, the examiner asks if the patient is aware that surrounding it are numerous squares. The examiner then asks the patient if any of the squares are distorted, missing, etc. 3, record 4, English, - Amsler%20grid%20test

Age-related macular degeneration is the most common cause of severe loss of eyesight among people 50 and older. Only the center of vision is affected with this disease. It is important to realize that people rarely go blind from it. AMD affects the central vision, and with it, the ability to see fine details. In AMD, a part of the retina called the macula is damaged. In advanced stages, people lose their ability to drive, to see faces, and to read smaller print. In its early stages, AMD may have no signs or symptoms, so people may not suspect they have it. 6, record 10, English, - age%2Drelated%20macular%20degeneration

A class of algorithms have been developed that operate via an iterative offspring production process. These iterative offspring production processes are commonly termed evolutionary algorithms, and include genetic algorithms, mutation algorithms, and the like. In a typical evolutionary algorithm, certain attributes, or genes, are assumed to be related to an ability to perform a given task, different combinations of genes resulting in different levels of effectiveness for performing that task. The evolutionary algorithm is particularly effective for problems wherein the relation between the combination of attributes and the effectiveness for performing the task does not have a closed-form solution. 1, record 12, English, - evolutionary%20algorithm

With the advent of better graphic displays and faster computers, virtual reality and augmented reality have become an area of intense research with the expectation that substantial benefits can be derived from the ability to simulate or augment reality with computer-generated visual graphics. One such system is known as cave automatic virtual environment(CAVE) in which a large theater is situated within a larger room where the walls of the room or "cave" are made of rear projection screens and the floor is a down projection screen. As cargo moves from the country of origin to the country of destination, insiders at each port(such as corrupt port workers) tamper with legal shipments. The key to their success depends on access to the location of a specific container, insider knowledge of the port environment and the ability to coordinate insider threats at both ends of the transport supply chain. 1, record 14, English, - rip%2Don%2Frip%2Doff%20concealment%20method

For example, the D614G variant is believed to have increased the ability of the virus to be transmitted and is now the most common type circulating in the UK, although it doesn’t seem to result in more severe disease. 3, record 35, English, - virus%20variant

To study systems with large mass-to-charge ratios or systems that have very complicated isotope patterns, we need a spectrometer with the ability to accurately determine masses so we can be sure we are studying the right ion. For this we use a Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometer(FT-ICR MS). In this technique, the mass-to-charge ratio(m/z) of an ion can be experimentally determined by measuring the frequency at which the ion processes in a magnetic field. 1, record 40, English, - Fourier%20transform%20ion%20cyclotron%20resonance%20mass%20spectrometer

Recently developed techniques of organic synthesis and polymer chemistry [now permit] to synthesize catalysts having enzyme-like activities... sometimes called "synzymes"... It seems most likely... that enzyme mimics(analogues) will need a large complex structure,... as well as any portions of degraded or part-synthesized enzymes which one might hope would retain(or exhibit) particular catalytic ability. The hope derives from the finding that some complex enzymes display more than one catalytic ability, and have different domains with characteristic active sites with specificity for particular substrates and conversions.... Consideration of the development of "synzymes" leads immediately to the question of feasibility at reasonable cost in a reasonable time period. One obvious question is how faithfully must the structure of the enzyme active center be duplicated? 2, record 53, English, - synzyme

There is growing interest in synthetic catalysts that mimic enzymes. Bioorganic chemists study enzyme models with the hope that results of their investigations will aid in the understanding of enzyme mechanism. With the development of industrial catalysis to the point where improvement in selectivity is a central theme in research, many believe that abiotic catalysts constructed with enzymes in mind could be of value in the chemical process industry. 3, record 53, English, - synzyme

Using a device called a Josephson junction, a SQUID can detect a change of energy as much as 100 billion times weaker than the electromagnetic energy that moves a compass needle. A Josephson junction is made up of two superconductors, separated by an insulating layer so thin that electrons can pass through. A SQUID consists of tiny loops of superconductors employing Josephson junctions to achieve superposition : each electron moves simultaneously in both directions. Because the current is moving in two opposite directions, the electrons have the ability to perform as qubits(that theoretically could be used to enable quantum computing). SQUIDs have been used for a variety of testing purposes that demand extreme sensitivity, including engineering, medical, and geological equipment. Because they measure changes in a magnetic field with such sensitivity, they do not have to come in contact with a system that they are testing. 3, record 55, English, - superconducting%20quantum%20interference%20device

They usually blow from the southwest to west and are quite strong, often 25-40 knots with gusts as high as 80 knots. Their effects are most strongly felt in southwestern Alberta where they funnel through the Crowsnest Pass before fanning out across southern Alberta and Saskatchewan. 3, record 56, English, - chinook

The theory of planned behaviour(TPB) started as the theory of reasoned action in 1980 to predict an individual' s intention to engage in a behaviour at a specific time and place. The theory was intended to explain all behaviours over which people have the ability to exert self-control. The key component to this model is behavioural intent; behavioural intentions are influenced by the attitude about the likelihood that the behaviour will have the expected outcome and the subjective evaluation of the risks and benefits of that outcome. The TPB has been used successfully to predict and explain a wide range of health behaviours and intentions including smoking, drinking, health services utilization, breastfeeding, and substance use, among others. 1, record 64, English, - theory%20of%20planned%20behaviour

Traditionally, administrative tribunals have been allowed to intervene in Higher Court proceedings where jurisdictional or operational matters have been in issue. However, one aspect of the IRB's [Immigration and Refugee Board] increased focus on strategic adjudication of its cases may include a need for the IRB to seek leave to intervene in more of its cases before the higher courts. The IRB's [Immigration and Refugee Board] ability to establish a consistent and coherent body of jurisprudence depends, in part, on the establishment of a coordinated and rational approach to its adjudicative function. To be most effective, each division must establish a selective and strategic approach to the adjudication of issues. This adjudication strategy is aimed at identifying the relatively small number of cases that merit the division's particular attention because they are cases that have the potential to shape the Board's jurisprudence. 2, record 84, English, - adjudication%20strategy

2, record 84, French, - strat%C3%A9gie%20d%C3%A9cisionnelle

ST muscle fibers function primarily for endurance. They contract at relatively low speeds and are primarily used during typical low-to moderate-threshold endurance-type activities. Thses muscle fibers have the ability to use fat, glucose(glycogen), lactic acid and protein(to an extent) as their fuel sources. These fibers have a large number of mitochondria(fuel-processing plant) giving rise to their endurance nature. Slow-twitch fibers are recruited first, are relatively fatigue resistant, and have a relatively low force output per cross-sectional area... 3, record 90, English, - slow%2Dtwitch%20muscle%20fiber

There has been interest in applying nanogels to drug delivery systems, such as protein delivery and gene delivery. In general, chemically cross-linked nanogels are synthesized by microemulsion polymerization or a crosslinking reaction of intra-associated polymer molecules. We develop tailor-made functional nanogels to create novel nanobiomaterials (nanogel engineering) by the self-assembly of functional associating polymers as building blocks. In particular, nanogels of cholesteryl group-bearing pullulan (CHP) selectively interact with proteins as a host and are useful as artificial molecular chaperone and drug carriers such as cancer immune therapy. 3, record 95, English, - nanogel

Nanocrystals are aggregates of anywhere from a few hundred to tens of thousands of atoms that combine into a crystalline form of matter known as a ’cluster’. Typically around 10 nm in diameter, nanocrystals are larger than molecules but smaller than bulk solids and therefore frequently exhibit physical and chemical properties somewhere in-between. Nanocrystals are believed to have potential in optical electronics because of their ability to change the wavelength of light. 2, record 96, English, - nanocrystal

3, record 96, French, - nanocristal

While carbon nanotubes(CNT) and carbon nanofibers(CNF) are both hollow, nanometer in scale, and produced in a similar manner, there are distinct differences which significantly impact their performance and ability to be processed. The primary differences between the materials are morphology, size, ease of processing, and price. Carbon nanofibers, also known as Stacked-Cup Carbon Nanotubes(SCCNT), have a unique morphology in that graphene planes are canted from the fiber axis, resulting in exposed edge planes on the interior and exterior surfaces of the fiber. CNTs, on the other hand, typically resemble an assembly of concentric cylinders of graphene. To illustrate the difference in morphology, Figure 1... shows a side by side comparison of A) multi-walled carbon nanotubes [MWCNT] and B) stacked-cup carbon nanotubes.... Figure 1. A) Multi-wall CNTs are composed of concentric cylinders of graphene where the basal planes form an inert surface. B) The stacked-cup structure of CNF has exposed graphitic edge planes along its length, providing opportunities for chemical modification of the surface for covalent bonding directly with the matrix. 7, record 97, English, - cup%2Dstacked%20carbon%20nanofiber
