Treatment walls are structures installed underground to treat contaminated ground water found at hazardous waste sites. Treatment walls... are put in place by constructing a giant trench across the flow path of contaminated ground water and filling it with one of a variety of materials(reactive fillings) carefully selected for the ability to clean up specific types of contaminants. As the contaminated ground water passes through the treatment wall, the contaminants are either trapped by the treatment wall or transformed into harmless substances that flow out of the wall. 2, record 4, English, - treatment%20wall

2, record 4, French, - paroi%20drainante

WHMIS will be implemented by federal and provincial legislation. The recently amended Hazardous Products Act(HPA) and the Controlled Products Regulations will require suppliers of hazardous materials to provide adequate labels and MSDSs as conditions of sale and importation. The Ingredient Disclosure List contains the names of chemicals which must be identified on material safety data sheets if they are included in products which fall into the WHMIS criteria specified in the Controlled Products Regulations. The Hazardous Materials Information Review Act and regulations will establish a Commission to rule on claims and appeals related to exemptions from disclosure of confidential business information. 1, record 31, English, - WHMIS%20criteria

1, record 80, French, - limitation%20de%20risque

The Controlled Products Regulations describe technical criteria for identifying materials which are classified as dangerously reactive. A dangerously reactive material can react vigorously : with water to produce a very toxic gas; on its own by polymerization or decomposition; or under conditions of shock, or an increase in pressure or temperature. A dangerously reactive material may cause a fire, explosion or other hazardous condition. It is very important to know which conditions(such as shock, heating or contact with water) may set off the dangerous reaction so that appropriate preventive measures can be taken. 3, record 87, English, - dangerously%20reactive%20material

1, record 97, French, - m%C3%A9tal%2Dtrace
