On 28 December 1807 Father Peter Joseph Triest gathered together a number of young men whose task was to become the care of a group of elderly men. In Ghent, like in many towns in our region, the circumstances in which the poor, the sick, and the elderly were forced to live were abominable. Triest wanted to do something about that. So he founded four congregations. Our story is about one of them : the Brother of Charity. Originally, they were named the Hospital Brothers of St. Vincent. In 1811 the first Brothers took their religious vows. From then on, they lived the life of a religious brother. 1, record 5, English, - Brothers%20of%20Charity

This category of mistake is derived from a small group of cases most of them of modern times, although the doctrine existed at least as early as 1584. The general rule is that a man is estopped by his deed, and although there is no such estoppel in the case of ordinary signed documents, a party of full age and understanding is normally bound by his signature to a document, whether he reads or understands it or not. If, however, a party has been misled into executing a deed or signing a document essentially different from that which he intended to execute or sign, he can plead non est factum in an action against him. The deed or writing is completely void in whosesoever hands it may come. 1, record 8, English, - plead%20non%20est%20factum

Internalization. In social psychological terms the adoption of attitudes or behavior patterns by an individual. Indeed much of socialization and education is involved with encouraging the individual to internalize the behavioral norms, morals and values of his or her group. A child's behavior is shaped and guided by example, encouragement, rewards and punishments, and hence directed into particular channels by external instruction and intervention. However, as the child develops he or she becomes able to give him or herself these instructions. Full internalization is reached when the behavior takes place not just because it is rewarded or punished, but because it is seen to be correct or appropriate. 4, record 13, English, - internalization

Systemic psychotherapy. Systems theory looks upon the individual as part of a system. The implication for treatment is that the individual' s problems will be solved as a result of solving the faulty attitudes and interactions within the family or the relevant group. The systemic family therapist considers the neurotic individual as being the vulnerable member who expresses the neurosis of which the family suffers. Canada's Walk of Fame, Toronto, Ontario is a walk of fame that acknowledges the achievements and accomplishments of successful Canadians. It consists of a series of stars imbedded in 13 designated blocks worth of sidewalks in Toronto, located in front of Roy Thomson Hall, The Princess of Wales Theatre, and The Royal Alexandra Theatre on King Street as well as Simcoe Street. The first group of members was inducted in 1998, and it has since expanded to include a young filmakers competition and there are plans for a permanent museum. There are 113 Canadians on the walk of fame, including athletes; coaches; actors, directors, writers and producers of movies, television and stage; singers, songwriters and musicians; playwrights; authors; comedians; cartoonists and supermodels. The Walk of Fame was first conceived back in 1996 when founder and current president Peter Soumalias suggested the idea of a Walk of Fame for famous Torontonians to the board of the Toronto Entertainment District Association. They rejected his idea but he went on to establish a Walk of Fame for Canadians in partnership with Bill Ballard, Dusty Cohl and Gary Slaight. In spite of a lack of funds, research and no media plan, they managed to succeed and the first class of inductees was inducted in 1998. 3, record 15, English, - Canada%26rsquo%3Bs%20Walk%20of%20Fame

1, record 34, French, - r%C3%A9gulation%20mutuelle

Kaye adapted a Beckman far-ultraviolet DK-2 spectrophotometer as a gas chromatographic effluent detector to record the spectra of eluted, absorbing materials. Using heated flow-through cells... coupled directly to the thermal conductivity cell' s outlet, he found that absorptivities of most organic vapors were sufficiently large to permit quantitative analysis, and in some instances identification, where specific absorption patterns could be attributed directly to a functional group in certain molecular species. Furthermore, the sensitivity of the far-ultraviolet detector for many compounds possessing intense absorption bands exceeds that of the normal thermal conductivity detector and, in some cases, the hydrogen flame ionization detector. 1, record 48, English, - ultraviolet%20spectrophotometer%20detector

Handicapping in tennis... Known players are allotted a handicap annually that mirrors their competitive results.... Points are awarded as either received or owed odds in each group of six games of a set, according to your standard of play. Players cannot be given a handicap greater than owe 50, or more than receive 40... For the purpose of matching the handicaps of different handicap players, handicaps are also graded above and below scratch(the handicap of 0), where. 1 owed or received equals a handicap of 1/6 of 15 owed or received.... When both players are handicapped to receive points or both to owe points, they play on the difference of their respective handicaps. In the case of received odds the player with the less odds goes back to scratch(love) and in owed odds he goes forward to scratch.... when players meet with handicaps on either side of scratch, two points owed are equal to one received.... 1, record 49, English, - scratch

1, record 70, French, - d%C3%A9pensier%20passif

The Dynamic-Investor is the ideal manager, working at top effectiveness for himself and the corporation. He is involved, committed, and accepting of company values, and shares his authority with subordinates in a way that enhances both their growth and his own. Although he is promotable soon, this, too, is a transient posture, for as long as he is needed to manage the diffusion of authority in the work group, his promotion will not be in the best interest of the corporation. 1, record 71, English, - dynamic%2Dinvestor

L'investisseur dynamique. 1, record 71, French, - investisseur%20dynamique
