Birth of the B12 snowmobile. Through 1941, Joseph-Armand perfects a new snowmobile called the B12, which receives a patent on June 23, 1942. This new version of the snowmobile seats 12 passengers and features a longer, more aerodynamic profile than the B7 snowmobile. The launch of the B12 snowmobile meets with great success, and orders increase. But momentum is short-lived, halted prematurely by Canada’s declaration of war.

CONT

He [Joseph-Armand Bombardier] started production of a large, enclosed, seven-passenger snowmobile in 1937, the B-7, and introduced another enclosed twelve-passenger model, the B-12, in 1942.... The B-12 had a flathead in-line six cylinder engine from Chrysler industrial, and 2, 817 units were produced until 1951. It was used in a lot of applications, such as ambulances, Canada Post vehicles, winter "school buses, "forestry machines and even army vehicles in World War II.

CONT

Discover the B-12 Snowmobile Experience, in Cap-Saint-Ignace. Onboard a B-12 snowmobile, one of the first all-terrain vehicles for communal transportation, and designed at the end of the 1940’s by Armand Bombardier, Ornitour offers you a guided ride through the heart of the beautiful Chaudière-Appalaches region. Expand your understanding on several subjects including the forest, the history of the area, biology and the various bird habitats.

Escheat therefore being a title frequently vested in the lord by inheritance, as being the fruit of a signiory to which he was entitled by descent, it may seem in such cases to fall more properly under the head of acquiring title to estates, viz, by descent, by purchase. But it must be remembered that, in order to complete this title by escheat, it is necessary that the lord perform an act of his own, by entering on the lands and tenements so escheated, or suing out a writ of escheat, on failure of which, or by doing any act that amounts to an implied waiver of his right, as by accepting homage or rent of stranger who usurps the possession, his title by escheat is barred. Saint Joseph's Day, commonly called the Feast of St. Joseph or in some churches, the Solemnity of Saint Joseph is marked in some Christian churches in honor of Saint Joseph, spouse of Mary and foster-father of Jesus. It is a Solemnity in the Roman Catholic Church, and a feast or festival in the Lutheran Church, and a feast in the provinces of the Anglican Communion, falling on 19 March. In the Orthodox Church, the Feast falls on the Sunday after Christmas. Saint Bernardino of Siena was the main proponent of Joseph's veneration in the western Church, where his feast day was first celebrated in 1621. In 1870, Pope Pius IX declared Joseph the patron of the Universal Church, and promoted the "Patronage" feast(later Solemnity, before the Vatican II calendar's use of such term) of Saint Joseph on the third Wednesday after Easter; this was replaced in 1955 by the feast of St. Joseph the Worker. As Joseph was a carpenter(or a builder), he is also the patron saint of workers.

St. Stephen's Day in Hungary is observed on August 20, the day on which the allegedly sacred relics of Stephen I of Hungary were transferred to the city of Buda. This day is the ultimate public holiday in Hungary. Stephen I, or "Stephanus" as he was named in Latin by Pope Sylvester II, was originally a pagan chieftain's son answering to the name "Vajk". He gouged out the eyes and poured boiling lead into the ears of his arch rival(Vasoly) and was awarded a crown by the pope for forcing catholicism onto the Hungarian people. The converted king was canonized by Pope Gregory VII in AD 1083 and has since been referred to as St Stephen of Hungary. Under communism St. Stephen's Day was referred to by the Hungarians as "The celebration of the new bread-the end of the harvest".

Liquid helium existing as a superfluid below the transition point of approximately 2.2°K at 1 atmosphere and having extremely low viscosity and extremely high thermal conductivity.

CONT

Superfluid Helium What Is It? As the temperature of helium gas is lowered to approximately 5. 2°K, a phase transition to ordinary liquid helium(He I) takes place. The latter is unremarkable and its behavior is identical to any other liquid. As temperature is lowered further(at moderate pressures) helium does not solidify. Rather, it undergoes a phase change to a second liquid phase He II at temperature of about 2. 17°K.... the He II phase persists all the way to absolute zero.... The He II phase is referred to as superfluid helium because of its remarkable properties, including the ability to flow through microscopic passages [holes as small as 10-7 centimeters in diameter] with no apparent friction; the quantization of vortices; and the ability to support four wave modes : first sound which is analogous to sound in ordinary gases and liquids, second sound which carries temperature and entropy perturbations with virtually no pressure variations, third sound which are waves on thin films, and fourth sound which are acoustic-like waves in the "superfluid" component of He II.

CONT
