Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The Dix-Hallpike test is typically performed in a doctor's office. The doctor will ask you to sit upright on an exam table with your legs stretched out in front of you and your head turned to one side. They will then ask you to lower your head and torso back so that you end up lying with your head stretched off the edge of the exam table, turned with one ear down at a 45-degree angle. If there are misplaced calcium deposits(also called canaliths) in the posterior canal of your inner ear, this will trigger vertigo symptoms. 4, record 2, English, - Dix%2DHallpike%20manoeuver
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
Benign positional paroxysmal vertigo (BPPV) is one of the most common causes of vertigo. The Dix-Hallpike maneuver is the gold standard test used to diagnose BPPV, which is crucial in confirming posterior canal BPPV. 5, record 2, English, - Dix%2DHallpike%20manoeuver

The hammer handle should always be tight in the head... The eye or hole in the hammer head is made with a slight taper in both directions from the center. After the handle, which is tapered to fit the eye, is inserted, in the head, a steel or wooden wedge is driven into the end of the handle that is inserted into the head. This wedge expands the handle and causes it to fill the opposite taper in the eye. Thus the handle is wedged in both directions... 4, record 23, English, - wedge

The hammerheaded pick is a very old tool that came into the fire service via the railroad. The tool is very simple : a striking or hammerhead surface on one side of the tool head and a pick on the other side. The pick is wide at the head and tapers to a point at the end … The primary use for it in the fire service is as a digging tool. The striking surface as well as the pick can be used for digging earth, as in trench rescues, or for dismantling concrete or block in masonry accidents, such as collapses. 2, record 43, English, - hammerheaded%20pick

The Dines Pressure Tube Anemometer is universally recognised as the most reliable and accurate instrument of its kind and has been adopted as standard by the British Meteorological Office and by meteorological stations world-wide. Dines Pressure Tube Anemometer consists essentially of a Head Assembly, a Velocity Recorder and a Direction Recorder, the IM100 records wind speed and wind direction simultaneously on a single chart. An important feature of the Dines, is that it records not only average wind velocity over a given time, but also variations in wind force, with the strength and frequency of gusts, providing valuable data on the internal structure of the wind. 2, record 71, English, - Dines%20anemometer
Record number: 71, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The suction head is mounted concentrically with the shaft, near the bearing that supports the vane, and develops a suction that is independent of wind direction. The pressure difference between the suction head and the pressure head is proportional to the square root of the wind speed and is measured by a specially designed float manometer with a linear wind scale. 3, record 71, English, - Dines%20anemometer

The Dines anemometer was first described by William Henry Dines in 1892 and had all the essentials of the final form of the pressure-tube anemometer. With various modifications, the Dines anemometer remained a useful wind measuring device into the 1960s. 3, record 71, English, - Dines%20anemometer

The combination of oscillation and slope of the sieve causes the stock to travel slowly along its length. Air currents drawn from the underside of the sieve float the lighter branny particles to the surface of the layer of material on the sieve. Heavier particles of endosperm fall to the lowest strata of material and ride on the surface of the sieve until they reach the part of the sieve that has openings big enough for the particles to fall through. As the particles fall through, they are collected in a series of graded fractions. Thus, at the head end of the purifier, the purest most dense particles of endosperm pass first through the mesh as mixture travels along the sieve, the composite particles of endosperm with adhering bran are next to pass through the mesh, and finally the light coarse branny particles tail over the sieve into separation collecting spouts. 1, record 85, English, - collecting%20spouts

This fibre optic viewing head extension is particularly useful for solving the sighting problems associated with tilting or movable burners. The flame envelope from this type of burner can be tilted from a horizontal position up or down as much as 30 degrees. It would be impossible to follow this flame pattern with a fixed sighting through the wind-box. Welding the tip guide(lens end) of this viewing head extension to the movable air compartment nozzle solves this problem. This viewing head extension can also be used for those applications where it is impossible to find a clear unobstructed view of the flame using a standard sight pipe. Here again the viewing head extension is mounted inside the furnace for a clear unobstructed view of the flame. 4, record 92, English, - sighting%20pipe

Filter Fabric Soil Retention Test.... a laboratory test to evaluate the ability of filter fabrics to act as silt curtains or fences. The test apparatus consists of two plastic tanks... with one end of each tank being open and capable of holding the fabric to be tested in a fixed and vertical position. One tank is filled with water and given a dry weight of soil from the site of the proposed construction. After a prescribed mixing procedure the soil-water suspension is allowed to pass through the fabric separating the two tanks. Hydrometer analyses are used to evaluate the weight of soil in each tank and thereby the percent of soil passing the fabric. Head differentials allow for calculation of the velocities involved for repeated trials. 1, record 96, English, - hydrometer%20analysis
