A C-shaped general-purpose clamp that clamps between the open ends of the C by means of a long flat-ended screw that threads through one end and presses the clamped material against the other.

The carriage clamp, or C-clamp, as it is commonly called, is shaped like a large C and has three main parts :(1) The threaded screw,(2) the jaw, and(3) the swivel head. The swivel plate, which is at the bottom of the screw, prevents the end from turning directly against the material being clamped. A fluxgate sensor, known as a core saturation magnetometer, is a solid state device to measure intensity and direction of a magnetic field vector in a sensitivity range, between 10-10 and 10-4T.

Regardless of the style, all heads can be fitted with parison programming. A parison programmer is a device that can change the gap or relationship between the head tooling die and mandrel while the parison is extruded. Thus, the wall thickness of the parison is changed and becomes ringed with sections of thinner and thicker material. These "rings" are located to correspond to specific sections of the bottle or blow-molded part where the part thickness may be too thin or too thick. For many blow-molded parts, parison programming has the potential of reducing part weight and cost while improving performance and strength.

In the simplest form of the spider or axial flow head, a central torpedo is positioned in the melt flow path supported generally by two spider legs.
