The Montreal Council of Social Agencies(MCSA), a co-ordinating organization for English-speaking, non-Roman Catholic social agencies, was formed in 1921 by John Howard Toynbee Falk, head of McGill' s Department of Social Studies, later the McGill University School of Social Workers. Although details of the organization of the MCSA have been modified over the years, the basic structure remained constant : a Board of Directors, elected from the member agencies, directed the MCSA through administrative standing committees and, more importantly, set up numerous special committees to study specific social problems under the aegis of area advisory groups for health, aging, urban renewal, recreation, etc. The overwhelming emphasis of the MCSA on planning and research reflects its role as animator, information exchange and coordinator of a great variety of social agencies and groups, from major hospitals and fund-raising organizations to church groups and boys’ clubs. The Glenn Research Center is a NASA center, located in Cleveland, Ohio between Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and the Rocky River Reservation(Part of the Cleveland Metroparks). Glenn is a NASA research center, whose primary mission is to develop science and technology for use in aeronautics and space. It was established in 1942 as part of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics(NACA) and was later incorporated into the National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) as a laboratory for aircraft engine research. It was initially named the Aircraft Engine Research Laboratory after funding approval was given in June 1940. ISAS utilizes "aerodynamic lifting bodies" to conduct space research and observations, and is developing launch vehicles and satellites for such purposes. In its former guise as part of Tokyo University Institute of Industrial Science in 1955, the organization conducted the horizontal flight tests of pencil rockets, and as Tokyo University Aerospace Research Center, it launched Japan's first artificial satellite, Ohsumi, in 1970. Hamid Ahmad has chosen beef for his studies on the production, processing, and storage of dried meat products. Mr Hamid is the head of the IDRC-supported Meat Processing Project of the Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research(PCSIR) in Lahore. His research team has concentrated on the development of products based on traditional Pakistani foods. The product they are most hopeful about is based on "barian", a food traditionally made mainly with pulses(edible seeds of leguminous plants). Because of rising costs and hygiene problems, the practice of using mutton in barian is not as common as it once was.
