Officially known as the Extravehicular Mobility Unit or EMU, the suit has two main components : the Space Suit Assembly(SSA) and the Primary Life Support System(PLSS). The SSA [space suit assembly] includes :[1] urine collection device : collects body wastes, which are later transferred to the Shuttle's waste management system. [2] bioinstrumentation system : monitors the astronaut's heart rate during spacewalks. [3] liquid cooling and ventilation garment : a "long-john" made of spandex, containing 90 metres of small tubes that circulate cooling water over the body. [4] communications carrier assembly : a "Snoopy" cap containing headphones and microphones for two-way communications. Newer models allow up to five people to talk together. [5] lower torso assembly : the pants and attached boots... [6] hard upper torso(HUT) : the top half of the suit, made of fibreglass, which supports the Primary Life Support System. 2, record 16, French, - combinaison%20spatiale

Fetal heart detectors are devices that use ultrasonic waves to provide audible and/or visual information. They consist of an ultrasound-frequency electrical generator and appropriate ultrasound transducers housed in a probe that is placed on the maternal abdomen. Ultrasonic heartbeat detectors amplify the audible frequency shift signal of the returned ultrasonic waves and deliver it to speakers or headphones; the heart rate is determined either by measuring the timing of the peaks in the Doppler signal or, more accurately, by using automated autocorrelation procedures. 1, record 17, English, - ultrasonic%20fetal%20heart%20detector

Recoton develops breakthrough technology which transmits stereo sound through walls, ceilings and floor up to 150 feet. In June 1989, the Federal Communications Commission allocated a band of frequencies stretching from 902 to 928 MHz for wireless, in-home product applications. Recoton, a leading wireless speaker manufacturer, took advantage of the FCC ruling by creating a new speaker system that utilizes this frequency band to transmit clearer, stronger stereo signals throughout your home. You will be able to listen to your stereo, TV, VCR or CD player in any room of your home without having to run miles of speaker wire. The powerful transmitter plugs into a headphone, audio-out or tape-out jack on your stereo or TV component transmitting music wirelessly to your speakers or headphones. One transmitter, unlimited viewers.(En Route, Air-Canada in-flight magazine, June 1994, p. 24). 2, record 36, English, - wireless%20speaker

The transmitter loop is a large rectangle, several thousand feet to the side. A long wire might also be used. The detector consists of two mutually perpendicular loops, one horizontal and one vertical, connected effectively in opposition through a transformer to amplifier and headphones. The vertical coil, with a fixed number of turns, is shunted by a capacitance to give parallel resonance at the source frequency and is connected through a reversing switch to the transformer primary. The horizontal coil has multiple taps for a variable inductance. The coils are about two feet in diameter and are mounted on a vertical post. 1, record 47, English, - Bieler%2DWatson%20method

1, record 47, French, - m%C3%A9thode%20Bieler%2DWatson
