Managed alcohol programs(MAPs) are harm reduction interventions that aim to reduce the harms of severe alcohol use, poverty and homelessness. MAPs typically provide accommodation, health and social supports alongside regularly administered sources of beverage alcohol to stabilize drinking patterns and replace use of non-beverage alcohol(NBA).

MMSB is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing waste diversion programs in Newfoundland and Labrador. Since 1997, MMSB has worked with stakeholders throughout the province to develop and implement recycling waste diversion programs to help keep Newfoundland and Labrador health, clean, and green. These initiatives include recycling programs for beverage containers, tires, oil and household hazardous waste, the Waste Management Trust Fund, as well as public education and information programs for recycling and waste reduction. MMSB is committed to supporting all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians in their efforts to reduce waste and participate in the province's recycling waste diversion initiatives.
